Although the outcome was what he intended, Anderson Silva’s journey to a victory over Travis Lutter didn’t quite go down the road that it started on. Originally slated to be a 5-round title fight for Silva’s UFC Middleweight Championship, Lutter did not make weight and the fight was reclassified to a 3-round, non-title bout.
In this exclusive interview with MMAWeekly.com, Silva gives his thoughts on Lutter missing weight and disrespecting the UFC, the title, and most importantly, the fans that paid to see a title bout.
Despite his disappointment, Silva went on to fight a very tough Lutter, finishing him in the second round of the bout. And although it was more apparent that Lutter submitted to the punishing elbows denting his head, Silva’s Jiu-jitsu skills were apparent in the bout and proved to many fans who hadn’t witnessed “the Spider’s” ground game, just how deserving he is of his Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Black Belt. Silva also touches on his ground game, his thoughts on the effort that Lutter forth, and more.
