The Oregon Ducks will be playing for the BCS National Title on Monday night in Arizona, and their biggest fan in the MMA world is none other than UFC lightweight contender Evan Dunham.
A native of Oregon and former student at the University of Oregon, his love for the Ducks has shown during all of his fights in the UFC, where he dons a team hat before and after all of his fights in the Octagon.
Growing up a Ducks fan, Dunham can’t wait to see his team play for the biggest trophy in all of college football.
“I’m really looking forward to it. That’s a dream come true,” Dunham told MMAWeekly Radio.
Dunham is currently in the final week of his training camp to prepare for his fight against Melvin Guillard at UFC Fight Night, thus he will not be able to attend the game in Arizona on Monday.
“I’ve been going to the Duck games since I was three years old, I just wish I could be there in person, but I’ve got to take care of business before I can do any of that,” said Dunham.
Dunham’s parents however will be attending the game on Monday, and while he is a bit biased, he’s sure that LaMichael James and the Ducks offense will be too much for Heisman Trophy winner Cam Newton and the Auburn Tigers.
“I think Oregon’s going to take it,” Dunham predicted. “I think our offense is too strong for them. I’m definitely pulling for Oregon, obviously.”
If Oregon is successful, Dunham admits it will be hard to not wear a National Championship t-shirt to his fight next week, but he’ll be sporting his hat as he always does.
