UFC officials announced that verbal agreements are in place for the Dec 30 bout.
Following his stint on the ‘Ultimate Fighter’ season 8, Efrain Escudero showed extreme promise in his early going in the UFC.
After defeating Phillipe Nover to win the reality show, Escudero knocked out veteran fighter Cole Miller in the first round to move to 2-0 in the UFC.
Unfortunately, Escudero ran into rough waters after that fight. The Arizona based fighter went 1-2 in his final three fights, including a weight cutting issue in his final fight against Charles Oliveira. The loss to Oliveira put Escudero on the outside looking in at the UFC.
Over his past several fights however, Escudero has gone 5-1 and picked up victories in his last two fights in a row. Training alongside top UFC lightweight contender Benson Henderson, Escudero has been gunning for another shot in the UFC and now he has it.
Escudero vs. Volkmann will be part of the UFC 141 undercard set to air on Facebook.
