Middleweights Clifford Starks and former ‘Ultimate Fighter’ runner-up Ed Herman have agreed to meet at UFC 143 on Super Bowl weekend.
Sources close to the match-up confirmed to MMAWeekly.com that the bout has been verbally agreed to by the fighters.
Clifford Starks made his UFC debut in October and earned a unanimous decision win over Dustin Jacoby for his first trip to the Octagon.
A former wrestler at Arizona State, Starks was in the same class during the time that UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez and former ‘Ultimate Fighter’ winner Ryan Bader were at the school.
With a perfect 8-0 record, Starks will now face a veteran of 11 UFC fights in former ‘Ultimate Fighter’ runner-up Ed Herman.
Herman may have lost season 3 of the ‘Ultimate Fighter’ to Kendall Grove, but his longevity since that time can’t be denied.
Always down for a fight, Herman recovered from major surgery that put him out of the sport for almost two years, but returned as a new man.
The former Team Quest fighter blasted through Tim Credeur in his return bout, and then submitted Kyle Noke with a nasty heel hook in August.
Herman now meets Starks at UFC 143 in a bout that’s expected to land on the main card for the show taking place Super Bowl weekend in Las Vegas.
