Donald Cerrone and Adriano Martins Verbally Agree to Fight at UFC on Fox 10

Posted on by Erik Fontanez

Donald Cerrone UFC 167 Post_9447A lightweight fight between Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone and Adriano Martins has been verbally agreed to for UFC on Fox 10 on Jan. 25, UFC officials announced on Saturday.

The Cerrone-Martins bout is added to the developing fight card, which will take place in Chicago at the city’s United Center.

Cerrone (21-6, 1 N.C.) is just a week out from finishing Evan Dunham at UFC 167 last weekend in Las Vegas. “Cowboy” slapped on a triangle choke to finish Dunham in the second round of their bout.

Martins (25-6) is relatively new to the UFC, but has over 3o professional fights to his credit. In his last fight, the Brazilian jiu-jitsu specialist showed off his best attributes by finishing Daron Cruickshank with a straight armbar in the second round of their UFC Fight Night 32 bout.

UFC on Fox 10 is headlined by a lightweight fight between former UFC champ Benson Henderson and former Strikeforce champ Josh Thomson.

Hmmm thought Cerrone would be looking for a higher profile fight than this. I guess it is short notice though, might explain it.

I agree but give a lot of credit to Cowboy for just wanting to fight.

I agree absolutely. I love watching Cowboy, never has a dull fight win or lose. It’s pretty apparent that he loves to just fight and doesn’t worry about climbing rankings etc as this fight won’t do too much for him in that respect I wouldn’t have thought. Plus he probably commands a nice fee per fight, always helps.

Very true. At the end of the day the guy is a competitor and needs to make money so the fight makes sense for him. Love guys like that, true fighters.

I agree 100% a win over an unknown fighter does very little for Cerrone’s career.
