UFC president Dana White on Tuesday evening announced that UFC on Fox 3 has a date and location carved out for May 5 at the IZOD Center in New Jersey.
The first bout announced features Jim Miller vs. Nate Diaz, but the UFC also stated that Ultimate Fighter Season 14 bantamweight winner John Dodson would face Darren Uyenoyama on the card. Both men are moving down to the 125-pound flyweight division for the bout.
This will be Dodson’s (12-5) first bout since defeating T.J. Dillashaw at the TUF 14 Finale in December. The Jackson’s MMA fighter has long been considered one of the top prospects outside the Octagon, but this will be his next step in proving that he belongs in it.
This will also be Uyenoyama’s second trip to the Octagon. He upset Norifumi “Kid” Yamamoto at UFC on Fox 1 in November, taking his overall record to 7-3.
While Miller and Diaz will be a feature bout on the main card, Dodson vs. Uyenoyama will likely grace the preliminary portion of the UFC on Fox 3 fight card.
