Press Release
Base Brawls Aug 19 Vince Genna Stadium Bend Oregon

DesertBrawl by JT Taylor and the people of Dirty Dog entertainment have been diligently working on an outside cage fighting event to take place at Vince Genna Stadium in Bend Oregon on August 19. JT Taylor, who is fresh off a win in the World Extreme Cage Fighting Ryan Bennett tribute show, said he is very excited about his win and this event. He said this will be a “huge night full of great fights and non-stop action”. BaseBrawls will be the first
time DesertBrawl has done a show at the stadium.

Tomi “Last Minute” Massey (4-1) will return to action after having surgery on his hand after he broke it during the Rite of Passage II show where he won his fourth straight fight in a row. Massey is looking to get back to his winning ways and get back on track for the 155lb amateur title. Massey will be dropping to fight at 155, and showing his striking skills at a much lighter weight.

Also fresh from a win in World Extreme Cage Fighting Ryan Bennett Tribute show, fan favorite Mike “Pretty Boy” Joy (3-1) looks to make his way back into title contention as well by taking on Brian Gardner a King of The Cage veteran who is looking to make a name for himself in the DesertBrawl cage by beating Joy. Joy showed impressive heart in his last fight against Robert Densley in the WEC when he took a huge onslaught of punches and pulled off a textbook
arm-bar in the last seconds of the first round. Both Joy and Gardner really know how to get down so look for whoever establishes there game plan first to get the win.

In one of the most highly anticipated re-matches of the year Bend Oregon Team REACT fighter Derek Jones (2-1) will be taking on Desert Dog fighter Shaun “Wolf man” Johnson (2-1). The first time these two met both men gave the crowd two amazing rounds of action that left both men drained and exhausted; yet it was Jones who pulled off the victory (back choke) and sent Johnson back to the drawing board. These two are a great match up in styles. Jones is a submission fighter who is more comfortable on the ground and will look to establish his slick submission game. Johnson is more of a ground and pound fighter who likes to brawl and bang and is experienced in submissions too.

The main event for this show gives us DB champ Paul “Picnic” Purcell (10-7-2) who is dropping to 170lb and takes on Bend Oregon Team REACT fighter Damion “Batten Down The” Hatch (2-3). Purcell has hands, which was evident when he dropped Wrecc with a spinning backfist at DB 16, and then after a loss at DB 17 against Justin “Hawk” Hawes (3-3) Purcell has gone 2-1 against some pretty tough competition. Hatch has also been busy getting back into the MMA scene going 2-0 in his last two SportFight showings, winning both by submission. Both of these pros can strike, and strike with precision. Purcell is a technical banger who likes to mix it up with some unorthodox strikes that have left plenty off opponents sleeping on the mat. Hatch is no stranger to the octagon and has left a bunch of his opponents in a daze as well.
In the co-main event, we will see two seasoned pro’s get it on in Kyacey “Ice Cold” Uscola (10-5), and Landon “The Show” Showalter (5-9-1). Uscola trains in Idaho with the Primal Tribe Fight Club. Uscola has wins over some pretty
tough competition like Wrecc, Ultimate fighter season one contestant Lodune Sincaid, and Joey “The Coyote” Guel just to name a few. This guy has fought everywhere including FCFF, King of The Cage, Sportfight, and Gladiator Challenge. His opponent is no slouch either he has been fighting since the first DesertBrawl against some stern competition like UFC veteran Matt “The Law” Lindland, UFC veteran Dennis “SuperMan” Hallman, UFC fighter Chris “Crippler” Leban, and many more. He has competed in SportFight, AFC, IFL, and others to many to name. He trains in Washington at Charlie Pearson’s Combat Club, and will come ready to bang. Both of these guy’s are considered strikers so it will be a great showing of skill and technique. Uscola is more of a wild banger, while Showalter is more precise and technical; yet both of these guys can put the other out in a matter of seconds so watch out this one will probably end in a knockout.
