UFC president Dana White on Friday announced that verbal agreements are in place for a lightweight showdown between Dennis Hallman and John Makdessi at UFC 140 on Dec. 10 in Toronto.
Hallman (43-14-2), who was on White’s worst-dressed list for his “speedo” incident at UFC 133, is making the drop to lightweight after having fought the majority of his most recent bouts at welterweight or middleweight. He’s coming off of a first-round TKO loss to Brian Ebersole in Philadelphia.
Makdessi (9-0) has fought every bout of his professional career in his home country of Canada. UFC 140 will be no different, fighting in Toronto. Makdessi made his UFC debut in Montreal at UFC 124, and last fought in a knockout victory over Kyle Watson at UFC 129 in Toronto.
The UFC 140 fight card is quickly taking shape, adding a heavyweight rematch between former UFC champions Frank Mir and Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira earlier this week.
