Renzo Gracie fighter Dave Branch has stepped up on short notice to face Rousimar Palhares at the upcoming UFC on Versus 3 card in Louisville on March 3.
Branch’s placement in the fight was confirmed to MMAWeekly.com by sources close to the fight on Wednesday. Heavy.com initially reported the switch.
Branch steps in to replace Alexandre “Cacareco” Ferreira, who dropped out of the bout due to the current disaster in Brazil. Several MMA fighters and their families have been affected due to the mudslides in Brazil that have claimed over 600 lives, and Ferreira was one of the many with relatives and loved ones in the area.
Dave Branch returns for his 4th fight with the UFC, and has won his last two in a row.
Training at the Renzo Gracie Academy in Manhattan, Branch brings a serious ground game along with a solid boxing background into his fight against one of the most feared grapplers in the UFC in Rousimar Palhares.
The UFC on Versus 3 card goes down March 3 in Louisville, KY at the KFC Yum! Arena.
