Dana White: “I’m the Biggest Manny Pacquiao Fan Ever; Bob Arum is a Moron!” (Video)

Manny Pacquiao and Bob ArumUFC president Dana White has never been one to mince words, and he surely didn’t when he was asked about the recent boxing match-up of Manny Pacquiao vs. Juan Manuel Marquez, with Pacquiao getting flattened.

“I’m the biggest Manny Pacquiao fan ever; I bet on Marquez. Dumbest fight in history. Bob Arum is a moron.”

Need we say more? Check out the video because Dana does have a little more to say, particularly about Bob Arum…

Just if someone could clarify (for someone who hardly follows boxing), why was the Pacquiao – Marquez fight dumb to put together? Because they had already fought so many times?

    • DanaisDumb

That’s one reason. In fact, a big reason.

In any case, Dana is a weird man. He somehow thinks just because he has done with MMA that he is right about everything.

Look, Bob Arum is so much smarter than Dana.

      • Anthony Lopez

Obviously he’s not. This was a horrible matchup to put together, and it essentially put boxing one foot deeper in the grave, as one of the two last ppv juggernauts left in boxing has lost most of his aura

      • Cptmats

Bob Arum is a complete idiot !

The primary reason for this fight being a piss poor decision is it was way too high risk. If those two never fought again people wouldn’t have complained, since Paquiao was 2-0-1 against Marquez. Manny had a rematch clause to get his title back that was unjustly taken from him. If he got that title back he would have had a bunch of other fights lined up. Plus the bout Mayweather/Paquiao (similar to GSP/Silva), everyone wants it, but never will happen. Instead they went for a risky high dollar fight, and now the “unbeatable” Paquiao is pretty much done. Think Fedor losing to Werdum.

The Marquez fight was a big risk for Pacquiao style wise with little to no reward for him or the sport of boxing’s dependence on his star power in the long term. Pacquiao and Marquez had fought 3 times before, and even though Pacquiao won twice, he had more trouble with Marquez than any other opponent he’s faced in the last several years. Pacquiao was coming off of a fluke split decision loss to Tim Bradley, and had a rematch clause in his contract in the event that he lost. If they put the Bradley fight together instead of Marquez/Pacquiao 4, unless something insane happened, Pacquiao had a very good chance of winning and redeeming himself, thereby regaining his stature as one of boxing’s pound-for-pound best while keeping the door wide open for a Mayweather/Pacquiao superfight. Instead, they put Pacquiao/Marquez 4 together, and Pacquiao got KTFO. Now, as a consequence, several big-money Pacquiao fights have lost their appeal, such as the Mayweather fight, the Bradley rematch, and fights against rising young talent like Devon Alexander or Robert Guerrero. It would be like the UFC putting Nick Diaz against Rory MacDonald instead of GSP in 2011 while Diaz was Strikeforce WW champ and riding his 10-fight win streak (i.e. killing off a contender).

I think what you’re saying is that the best fighters shouldn’t be matched up against people that can beat them and that promoters should make money fights rather than make the Champions fight whomever is placed in front of them. This is the thinking that has led to Jonesdfighting Sonnen and Diaz fighting GSP.
I see 3 people agree w/you so it seems that this is the direction fans want the UFC to take.
      Sad IMO.

It’s just where I think Dana White is coming from is all. There’s a sports-side and a business-side to fighting, whether it’s boxing, MMA, kickboxing, etc. In an ideal world, the two best fighters are also the two best-selling, but that doesn’t always happen. It’s the nature of the beast when the word “professional” (i.e. money) is involved.

    Dana White…..shut up already….fuckin loser

    • DanaisDumb

I wouldn’t be a bit surprised if within 5 years Dana starts talking sh*t on soccer, NFL, and even Google.

The guy can be a bit annoying.

      • Dana White on soccer

“Can’t stand soccer. It’s the least-talented sport on Earth. There’s a reason three-year-olds can play soccer. When you’re playing a game when the net is that big and the score is 3-1 (and that’s a blowout) are you kidding me? You know how untalented you have to be to score three times when the net is that big?”

        • GoNoles

if he said that thats pretty dumb, i hate soccer just cuz its boring as **** to me but i enjoy playing any sport and i sucked **** at it and usually im good at damn near everything i do.

        • Daniel Winge Stride

soccer is maby the biggest sport in the world and mma is not even coming close to it. dont get me wrong i love mma but outside north america soccer is one of the biggest sports maby the biggest;)

        • Gaynaisdumbdumb

Your impersonation is Dana is priceless near perfection.

          Dana on French Cuisine

“Here is the ******* thing about French Cuisine that I completely can’t stand and why I think it is unbelievably retarded for people to say it is one of the best cuisines in the world. When I go into a restaurant and pay $200 per person, I expect something huge. Something that I will remember for ever not because it is so good but because it was worth every penny I paid. And here is the thing about French cuisine. You get snails and other mud critters. That is so not worth the money. So for any one to say that French cuisine is p4p the best cuisine in the world, you are out of your mind. As to why any one would study this garbage let alone eat it…I don’t understand. It’s dumb.”

    • GoNoles

idk why yall are bitching about this in particular he pretty much hit the nail on the head.

  • laleggenda27

Is Dana White criticizing Bob Arum because he put together a “money fight?” The same Dana White that gave Brock Lesnar a title fight? Or that is giving Chael Sonnen and Nick Diaz title fights? Is this the same Dana White we’re talking about here? So much hypocrisy and nonsense spews out of this man’s mouth, yet his minions continue to hang on every word he speaks. Hopefully the collective IQ of the MMA fan community takes a dramatic uptick – and soon – for the sake of the sport.

    • BRAD

Theres a big difference between a “money fight” and a fight the fans wanna see. Not quite sure how many people actually wanted to see that fight.

  • Bobby Gunter

age caught up with Pacquiao about 4 fights ago it happens to every fighter the same will happen with the spider so dana should if he ever has any intentions of making a super fight get it done now and stop the BS

  • stacks

Pacquiao was schooling Marquez and was about to knock him out. Marquez escaped with a lucky punch. Plain and simple. Marquez punch was like a hail mary throw

  • Dana white is a bald headed nerd got lucky he had rich friends shouldn’t talk so much smack somebody going to end up smacking him

  • Ed Mister

Dana White is a legend in his own mind. From within this group, pick out the Clown Prince: David Stern, Roger Goodell, Bud Selig, Gary Bettman, Bill Brady, Dana White.

    • Gaynaisdumbdumb

      easy Dana White.

The guy is a genius at what he does, which making controversial blunt statements to get attention.

      • Ed Mister

The difference with the Clown Prince vs. the rest of that group at the top of their respective sports is that he is desperate for attention to get noticed outside of his relatively small fish bowl vs, the other sports. The others are professionals, and don’t need to resort to childish name calling. Of course the Clown Prince has no formal education like the others, so he probably doesn’t know any other way, which seems to be well documented over a long period of time. Yes, he’s wealthy by luck, an anomaly, an aberration.
