Dan Hardy UFCDan Hardy is out of his UFC on Fox 7 bout with Matt Brown.

The UFC matchmaking team moved swiftly to line up a replacement. Jordan Mein has already agreed to step in and take Hardy’s place on April 20 at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif.

UFC officials announced Hardy’s injury and his replacement late Thursday night.

Mein (27-8) is making a quick turn, having just defeated Dan Miller at UFC 158: St-Pierre vs. Diaz this past weekend. It is no wonder the 23-year-old fighter already has 35 bouts to his credit so early in his career.

The win over Miller marked Mein’s Octagon debut, and agreeing to such a quick return with Hardy falling off the card will surely endear him to his bosses.

Riding a three-fight winning streak, Mein faces no easy task in Brown.

While Mein has more professional bouts to his credit, Brown (16-11) has fought the last half of his career fighting under the white-hot lights of the UFC. He’s used to the pressures of fighting on the MMA world’s largest stage, riding a streak of four consecutive victories into the fight.

UFC lightweight champion Benson Henderson squares off with Strikeforce titleholder Gilbert Melendez in the UFC on Fox 7 main event.

That sucks because Hardy vs Brown could be fight of the night without a doubt.. And props for Mein to step in

  • Oswald Cobblepott

    Hardy would’ve gotten knocked out

  • drkdisciple

Poor Brown he has a much tougher fight now then he did against that over rated Dan Hardy!

Ever since watching Mein knock out Evangelista Santos out with the most vicious standing elbows I have ever seen, I knew this guy was going to be a top ten fighter someday.

Props to him for stepping up on short notice. This fight should be a beast since Brown has looked like a killer his last few fights and he has experience derailing hype trains like he did with Stephen Thompson.

    • Kris-tyahn

Brown beat Thompson who was 6-0 & only his 2nd fight in the UFC, and only beat him by decision & you think that’s “derailing” him?!? I thought Brown should have finished a guy who had 6 MMA fight, compared to Brown who had 24 before his fight vs. Thompson. Also, the only reason Thompson lost that fight was b/c of his cardio, lets not forget Thompson took the fight on a month notice & he still went the distance with Brown.

Mein is gonna fudge him up. It wont be fight of the night because Mein will destroy him.

  • I overlooked Brown against Mike Swick, I won’t do that again. This fight is still very good and a great fight for Mein. Hope to see Hardy back soon though.

    • Kris-tyahn

Why were you so certain about Swick beating Brown?!? That was his 3rd fight in almost 3 yrs, I had Brown by death! Now Swick in his “prime”/before he got injured, would have been a diff story, but Swick only beat a 16-9 DeMarques Johnson who hasn’t beaten anyone in the top 25 & has now lost 4 of 5 & lost 5 of his last 7 fights.

      • I just seen Swick as the veteran and being a tough fight. Brown is on a roll now though and hopefully he can keep it up and get bigger fights. What would you think of him vs Koscheck if he beats Mein?

  • BarrysHypocrisy

Too bad for Brown. Hardy would have been a much easier fight.

  • The Progosticator

Jordan Mein will derail Matt Brown. This kid will be in the UFC for years to come with his savage striking.
