The Sears Centre in Hoffman Estates, Illinois played host to an evening of mixed martial arts action on Saturday night, November 11th, and it was Pride and UFC veteran Jeff Curran who emerged victorious in the main event.
Curran won on the judges’ scorecards by majority decision against Rafael Assuncao, who lost for the first time in his MMA career. Curran has won two fights in a row since his unanimous decision loss to Hatsu Hioki at Pride Bushido 12 in August.
Elsewhere on the card, rising prospect Donnie Liles picked up an impressive submission victory over Brian Gassaway (who lost to Diego Sanchez last year at UFC 54); former NFL lineman Alonzo Spellman defeated Antoine Hayes by unanimous decision in Spellman’s MMA debut; Terry Martin improved his career record to 14-2 by knocking out Jason Guida; and Ultimate Fighter 2 contestant Kerry “Meat Truck” Schall secured a quick submission victory over Geza Kalman.
