Cub Swanson WEC 44The UFC’s return to England in February now has a main event with featherweights Cub Swanson and Dennis Siver agreeing to meet on the card.

UFC officials announced the new bout on Wednesday.

Looking to build on a current three fight win streak, Cub Swanson returns to action in early 2013 with his eyes on the ultimate prize of getting a title shot next year.

To move one step closer to that goal he’ll first have to go through German heavy-hitter Dennis Siver.

Undefeated thus far in his featherweight career, Siver dominated Nam Phan at least weekend’s UFC on Fox 5 card, and now hopes to pick up another win to vault him into top ten status by facing Swanson in England.

The Swanson vs. Siver fight takes place as part of the UFC on Fuel 7 card headed up by the bantamweight title fight between Renan Barao and Michael McDonald.

    Good fight!!!

Good fight that nobody will see because it on Fuel

Why do they put fights on fuel? I’m sure FX would be happy to carry the cards. I and most people I know don’t have a cable company that even carries FuelTv.

    • Anthony Lopez

      Totally agree. I hate it

  • Mitch

Yeah. I’d be kinda pissed if I fought on a fuel card. I feel like a big reason that Weidman was not given a shot is bc most people did not see his vicious victory over Munoz since it was on fuel. The winner of Siver/Swanson will have a good claim to make for a title shot but no one will see their fight.

Right, because Dana doesn’t have Fuel TV I’ve heard.

I love this fight too, and maybe this is just be being devil’s advocate here, but I kind of want to see these guys get a few more easy fights before a fight like this. Swanson has been on a role, so maybe he’s due for a ‘make-it-or-break-it’ fight like this, but Siver just dropped down and had one amazing performance. Just before that, he couldn’t put a string of wins together. Let the guy accumulate some more wins and establish himself before giving him a fight like this.

That said, I’m happy to watch it. Great match up and whoever wins will have a huge bump in their career.
