Fights are falling fast for UFC 133 in Philadelphia.
Just after the news broke that Alessio Sakara was off the card due to injury, Constantinos Philippou has been tapped as a replacement to face Jorge Rivera on Aug 6 in Philadelphia.
UFC officials announced the move on Monday.
Philippou was originally scheduled to face Renzo Gracie fighter Rafael ‘Sapo’ Natal on the night’s undercard, but the injury to Sakara opened up a slot on the main card for the Greek fighter to step in and face Jorge Rivera.
Making his 2nd appearance in the Octagon, Philippou will try to pick up his first win after coming up short in his debut fight, and he has a tall order ahead of him facing the always tough and rugged Rivera on short notice.
The fight is expected to remain on the main card in Philadelphia, which now stands as a total of nine bouts.
Philippou’s opponent Rafael ‘Sapo’ Natal is still awaiting word, but is expected to remain on the card to create a 10th bout for the night.
