Carlos Condit and John Alessio are both coming off of wins at World Extreme Cagefighting 25, the promotions Las Vegas, Nev. debut on January 20th. This Saturday night, one of them won’t be so lucky. Inside The Joint at the Hard Rock Hotel, Condit and Alessio will step into the cage with hopes of walking out as the new WEC Welterweight Champion.

With a record of 19-4, Carlos Condit only started to gain widespread attention when he defeated both Renato “Charuto” Verissimo and Frank Trigg as part of the Rumble on the Rock 175-pound Grand Prix. He ended up losing a decision to Jake Shields in the final, but recently has run up a 4-fight winning streak. Perhaps one of the most impressive dimensions of his career is that Condit has won all 19 of his fights with a decisive finish. He has never gone to a decision in a fight he has won and only once in a loss.

John Alessio has been around the game a little longer than Condit, amassing a record of 18-9, but has had it a little rougher lately going 2-2 in his last 4 outings. Of course, those losses were to Diego Sanchez and Thiego Alves, which is nothing to be ashamed of. Alessio has fought in seemingly every organization in the world: the UFC, Pride, SuperBrawl, King of the Cage, TKO, Extreme Challenge, and as of late, the WEC. He brings a wealth of experience that should serve as a difficult counter to Condit’s aggression.

The main event at WEC on Saturday night, which is sure to be an exciting fight, gives us our main event for MMAWeekly Radio tonight. Both Carlos Condit and John Alessio are scheduled to hit the airwaves with Damon & Jeff LIVE tonight at 6pm PT / 9pm ET on MMAWeeklyRadio.com.
