MMAWeekly was there as Shogun prepared for his fight this Sunday with the Chute Boxe team in Tokyo at the Pride Training Center. Wanderlei Silva, his brother “Ninja” Rua , and Rudimar Fedrigo were all on hand as they helped Mauricio “Shogun” Rua get ready for Mark Coleman. This fight will be a kind of gauge to see how the Middleweight does against a Heavyweight for the open weight GP.
When asked what they do to prepare for larger opponents Wanderlei said, “Of course, we always train with fighters who are heavier than us, but training is a lot different than actually fighting. It’s tough to fight someone bigger, and it takes guts. Shogun is fighting a bigger opponent this time, so it’s an opportunity to show he has guts. That’s one of the strengths of Chute Boxe.”
