Chris WeidmanThe UFC in New York? We all wish it was true, but there’s still an uphill legal battle that keeps MMA out of the Empire State.

UFC boss Dana White has said in the past that dirty politicians are keeping legislation from passing, and now UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman is echoing that sentiment. Watch here as Weidman weighs in on “dirty politics” and how disappointed he is for his UFC 168 rematch with Anderson Silva to be unable to take place in Madison Square Garden.

You have to think long term. Yes MMA will be good for the NY economy, and it would allow for some spectacular shows, but that would also make it legal for men like Anderson Silva, Eddie Alvarez, and Tito Ortiz to fight inside the state borders.

Their FANS might show up too! UGH! I don’t even want to think about that.
