Chael Sonnen Firing on All Cyclinders at UFC 148 Press Conference (Video)

Chael Sonnen at the UFC 148 press conference“I gotta plead ignorance on that first fight. I thought if you tapped it ended the round. I do now know (different).”

That is but one example of Chael Sonnen’s return to form, unlike his more reserved demeanor on the UFC 148 media call last week.

Heading into his UFC 148 rematch with middleweight champion Anderson Silva, it appeared last week that he might be backing off the gas a little bit, but on Tuesday, it was full speed ahead.

Check out what Chael Sonnen had to say at Tuesday’s UFC 148 pre-fight press conference…

    Great Video! Sonnen rocks!

He dyes his hair and has been caught with elevated testosterone levels.
    Extremely elevated.
The guy says he doesn’t know when to tap or the rules on tapping but he tapped for Damian Maia. (???) I believe in the first round…
In the beginning of this interview he says something about his “big balls?” -They obviously aren’t working if you need TRT..
If his hypothalamus is screwed up, he should man up like Anderson Cooper and admit his homosexuality. (which I would respect!)
I don’t respect someone who tries to get away with money laundering and a professional fighter caught with elevated T levels. And a professional mma fighter’s blatant lies on tapping.
I am no Anderson Silva fan but the UFC is looking a bit like boxing now when blatant liars and cheaters are worshipped. ( by men with with screwed up hypothalami and women with elevated T levels)
    Who cares right?
Let the weight cut begin, it will take its toll

  • Chael Is KING

Love him or hate him, that was pretty damn entertaining…

I just re-watched the first fight in its entirety. First of all, Anderson grabbed his right ribs after the first round, so yes, he was in pain. HOWEVER, I watched the entire fight, and I don’t see Chael hitting him there. He hits him in his LEFT ribs quite often on the ground, and he punches him in the face lots of times, but an actual focused onslaught on the right side of Anderson’s body simply did not occur. Now of course, it doesn’t matter if Chael doesn’t hit him there, because it’s still very sore to do anything with bruised ribs, especially fight the #2 middleweight MMA fighter on the planet, but I’m just talking from an actual contact perspective, he was not hitting him much there.

Next, the 1st round. Anderson got punched a few times, which he usually avoids, in the first round, as well as subsequent rounds. This had nothing to do with the ribs. He just didn’t expect Chael to be a good boxer. Well, he’s a good boxer.

He was on high levels of testosterone, so we’ll see what happens Saturday. But I can tell you this: if you think Chael will simply get front kicked in the 1st round, it’s probably not going to happen. And even if he does, he recovers, and he wrestles, etc., so it won’t be a problem.

He has also been training in BJJ the the last 2 years, and when the best wrestler/MMA fighter trains at ANYTHING for 2 years, he’s going to become pretty good at it.

I can’t see much of a way for Anderson to win this fight, except with condit-like footwork, and continuously backing up. But then he’ll pull a Guida and possibly lose a split decision due to lack of aggression.

Anderson needs to strike hard and fast, but i’m afraid it won’t be enough.

Sonnen by submission in the 3rd.

Yeah, he’s going to submit Anderson. Chael will.

You are super hi dude. Sonnen has 13 fights in the ufc with 1 submission win.. He has been submitted 5 times.

      • RonnieV

He had me going until he said the submission part.

  • Very funny comment Martialartist. I hope no one thinks you were serious.
    I laughed and laughed…..

Ya know, everyone keeps talking about Anderson’s ribs in their first fight…. How about the fact that Chael had a sinus infection? Does noone remember that?

  • I remember that Chael had super high hormone levels that indicated cheating and that would have made it a no contest had Chael won.
I think it is remarkable that anyone with a rib injury could even fight let alone win a MMA match at this level.
Here is hoping that Chael can breathe properly and will not try to back out of his tap if he gets submitted like he did last time.
And before anyone goes off on me for LOVING Anderson let it be known that the only time I have ever rooted for Silva was in the Sonnen fight. I can’t stand crooks, especially republican crooks that go on about welfare cheats while breaking laws themselves. I also can’t stand cheaters. Clearly then I can’t be a Sonnen fan.

I cant wait to see Chael beat his ass again.. i just hope he wins this time. I think after the first minute or 2 in the first round will be exciting and Silva will try to take him out right away and it wont work. after that it should be interesting. Both men worked hard, silva on wrestling and Sonnen on BJJ… but im picking Sonnen..
