Chael Sonnen: Fighters on Team Jon Jones Will Learn How to Be Selfish Entitled Brats

Chael Sonnen at the UFC 148 press conferenceIt didn’t take long for new Ultimate Fighter coach Chael Sonnen to begin throwing a few verbal jabs at new opponent Jon Jones.

Just hours after the UFC announced the Sonnen would be coaching opposite Jones on the next installment of The Ultimate Fighter, the self-professed “American Gangster” was already on the airwaves at UFC Tonight stirring the pot.

While one of his strongest attributes may be the gift of gab, Sonnen is also a very experienced coach and he promises to teach his team of competitors as best he can, and the other half of the fighters, well, they may be in for a different experience under coach Jon Jones.

“Listen, here is what you need to know. This show has some tremendous young talent on it. I will be taking 50 percent of that talent and teaching them how to fight,” said Sonnen.

“The other half is going to be taught how to be selfish, entitled brats like Jones. The good news is that when it is all over, I’m sure Coach Jones will throw a hell of an after-party.”

Sonnen hasn’t backed down from taking jabs at Jones’ personal life, continuously poking and prodding at the champion after his DWI arrest earlier this year. It’s not likely to let up as Sonnen gets ready to sit side by side with Jones for six-weeks starting Oct. 29 when filming starts.

As far as the fight, Sonnen will face Jones in April with the UFC light heavyweight title on the line. The odds seem all on Jones’ side as he’s been the dominant champion since winning the UFC title in 2011, but Sonnen isn’t backing down from challenging the 205-pound king as they head into their reality show coaching gig.

“Here’s the bottom line, he should not have been pressured into this. I did everything I could to warn this guy. I told him, ‘Hey, I’m coming to the division,’ and he should have packed up and left it. He talked about going to heavyweight and he should have done it because now he’s waited too long and the man has arrived,” said Sonnen.

Jones will have his first chance to respond to Sonnen on Wednesday during a media conference call set to go down at 4 p.m. ET. MMAWeekly.com will have constant updates on Twitter as well as posting the full audio from the call when it ends.

Stay tuned to MMAWeekly.com as the situation between Jon Jones and Chael Sonnen develops.

Life is good if you’re Chael Sonnen. Why train when your mouth does all the work?

    Fighters, take notice.

    • Milosc

Agreed. I look forward to Sonnen’s match against Jones, if only for his lesson

and team sonnen will learn to be a bunch of loudmouth crybabies that think when they tap and quit that all they have to do is throw a hissy fit like a spoiled 1st grader and they will getanother shot. They better add 5 or 6 more wild card spots for team sonnen when Sonnen’s method of double leg and hold doesnt work.

i’d like to see what your strategy is when fighting anderson. you’re forgetting how chael submitted bryan stann and gave anderson a run for his money during their first fight. quit hating biatch

Yaaa, 1 finish in over 5 years. but the way he talks about himself he should be undefeated, all first round ko’s with 1 arm tied behind his back and blindfolded. I don’t really hate on Sonnen the fighter, I hate on Sonnen the hypocritical hype machine. The verbal garbage coming out of his mouth is almost comical if it wasn’t so pathetic. Going after jones for a DWI while he is still on probation, He’s the first to badmouth anyone for a failed drug test even though he did himself, and he hit Silva over 300 times and barly left a mark, but spats off that he is going to knock people out “that they wont make it out of the first round, ect.” so sorry, i will keep hating as long as he keeps running his mouth.

Chael is a very good fighter, and an amazing wrestler. No denying that. But who are these people that get excited about fights by listening to him take cheap shots and say things that are obviously covering up a lot of insecurity about the fact that he is not a well rounded fighter? Guess his team can learn how to be a rat in order to avoid prison after pleading guilty to money laundering…

“On January 3, 2011, Sonnen pleaded guilty to money laundering in connection with mortgage fraud. After agreeing to testify against others involved in the investigation, he was fined $10,000 and sentenced to two years probation.”

Choosing between someone who is a cheater, a crook, and a rat, I’d rather fight for the well rounded (so called) entitled brat.

Chael is great at his job. Yes he lost to Silva twice and failed due to elevated testo levels but it doesn’t change the fact that the guy trains hard as hell and brings the fight every time. His wrestling is world class. And now on top of being a high level athlete he’s using his promotional skills to hype up TUF, sounds like a good worker if you ask me.

One coach will teach you how to drive drunk while cheating on your baby momma but still pretend to be a Christian. The other will tell you how to get caught laundering money, taking steroids and being a racist. The ufc shouldn’t just whore themselves out for ratings because these two are the worst spokesmen for mma.

i watch these guys to see a fight, not a role model.

      • oface scrillionaire

I too watch them to FIGHT and being on tuf as coaches isn’t fighting. I have to listen to these two dbags talk about each other. Just put them on a ufc ppv.

Last time I checked Brazilian wasn’t a ‘race’

  • disqus_1vlWNfdPOM

Yawn… So Sonnen is going to teach his team how to hype fights, and wrestle, while Jones will teach his team how to become next generation Mixed Martial Artists. I don’t know why none of Sonnen’s opponents bring up his mortgage fraud charges. Surely thats AS serious as a DWI?

Maybe because most fighters don’t know what mortgage fraud is. Or maybe they have some class.

Or maybe because of the racist double standards in professional sports and every other segment of American society, Black men are held to higher standards than white men, even when the white guy is a convicted crook and a fraud (besides being a losing candidate of the Republican Party, the champions of pull-yourself-up-by-your-bootstraps, law-abiding all-American family values).
