Chael SonnenFresh off of a loss to one of the greatest pound-for-pound fighters in the world, Chael Sonnen has been blasted with numerous questions since Saturday night’s UFC 159 fight with Jon Jones.

Unlike other fighters, however, he’s in the unique position of also being the co-host of UFC Tonight on Fuel TV. As such, Sonnen on Tuesday night fielded questions from his broadcast partner, Kenny Florian, ranging from breaking down the Jones fight to retirement to his feud with Wanderlei Silva.

Check out what Chael Sonnen had to say on UFC Tonight…

I want to see Chael fight GSP for the title.. I know he can make the weight.. then retire if he wants…

Chael vs GSP? Chael dies. He doesn’t have the same focus and intensity that GSP has.

at 185 it would be an exciting fight.

  • Phael Sonnen

Why doesn’t he just go up and get an automatic title shot at Cain? Maybe Chael can step up on 7 days notice instead of 8 and fight in May instead of April this time.

I doubt that would work. JBJ vs Chael was pretty dumb. Cain vs Chael would be dumber

Chael getting run over by a significantly bigger Jones is no surprise. We all called it pretty much. Having wrestling skill is all well and good … but just as there’s a reason we have weight classes in MMA, so too for wrestling. Jones has serious wrestling skillz himself that overran Chael’s due to superior size and strength.

But I like Chael. He’s entertaining and when not in his “persona” he seems to be a genuinely good, solid bloke. A Wanderlei fight could be entertaining.

I stopped when he said that he doesn’t try to sell the fights :P. There is no way he can make proper title run in any division. He is pure L&P practitioner, like Ben Askren, but unlike Ben, he is quitter… All he can do is sell fights…

Good to hear Chael admit to being a gatekeeper in either weight class, but a champion in neither. He will NEVER beat Anderson Silva or Jon Jones, but that doesn’t mean he wont be a competitive fight for anyone else in those two weight classes.

The door is opened to him for anything he wants to do, he is a great commentator too. If he does retire i will miss him a lot.
