During the UFC 181: Hendricks vs. Lawler II pay-per-view broadcast on Dec. 6, the Ultimate Fighting Championship announced that it had signed a multi-fight deal with former WWE star Phil “CM Punk” Brooks.  Brooks is expected to make his Octagon debut sometime in 2015.  Who he’ll face in his mixed martial arts debut is unknown.  But Cathal Pendred believes it will be him.

CM_Punk_SummerSlam08 Ns750UFC president Dana White said after the signing of Brooks that he doesn’t want to throw the former WWE champion to the wolves right out of the gate. The 36-year-old Brooks doesn’t have any professional fighting experience. White plans to match him up against an opponent with comparable experience for his first fight.

“We’re not going to throw the kitchen sink at him,” White recently told “He is going to fight a guy who is 1-0, 1-1, 2-1 — something like that.”

Pendred has a 15-3-1 record. He’s 2-0 in the UFC after appearing on the nineteenth season of The Ultimate Fighter reality series. He was defeated in the semifinals by eventual TUF 19 middleweight winner Eddie Gordon.

The UFC hasn’t yet announced whom Brooks will face in 2015. And Brooks wasn’t certain what weight class he’d compete in four days ago when the announcement of his signing was made. But that doesn’t necessarily rule out Pendred.

Cm punk vs Mike king…how about that!

I really wanted CM Punk versus the Green Ranger. That would of been an awesome fight. The green ranger would of knocked him out.

guess it really depends where he fights. if it’s vegas, cathal isn’t the opponent. the commission wouldn’t approve that.

The best thing is after the fight when they post salaries if Cathal wins…

Cathal Pendred – $8000 with $4000 win bonus
Phil Brooks – $200,000 with no win bonus

Dos Caras jr is 0-1 in mma, lost by kick to the head by Crocop. He would be the ideal candidate to fight Brooks lol As much as I hate the signing of CM Punk I would much rather watch him vs Dos Caras then any Mighty Mouse match!

Actually DCJr is 9-5 but yeah sure….. w.e………

Come on, Dana. Match him up with someone that will make him look horrible, like you did when you had James Toney fight Couture just to make a point to the boxers that had trash talked mma.
