“Nick is a fighter. I’m a fighter. We’re gonna come to fight. This isn’t a wrestling match, this isn’t a jiu-jitsu competition. We’re gonna step in their try to beat the snot out of each other,” said Carlos Condit at Wednesday’s UFC 143 open workouts at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, when talking about his opponent, Nick Diaz.

The two will battle for the interim UFC welterweight championship on Saturday night, each hoping to take home a belt, and more importantly, a golden ticket for a future shot at current champion Georges St-Pierre.

Condit had much more to say both about the fight with Diaz and the possibility that everyone is overlooking him, hoping to see Diaz and St-Pierre finally step in the cage together…

Carlos Condit is a mumbler. I’ve noticed it more and more in recent interviews.

    Haha! 🙂

I like Carlos. He’s one of few guys that have one move finishing ability. Pretty impressive for still being in a relatively small weight class that doesn’t provide for such a type a guy.
At the end of the day it’s still tough for a guy at 170lbs to finish. Diaz isn’t easily finished so it could be tough. Best of luck.

This is such an awesome fight. I think this is the best fight in years that casual fans would not even know about.

You know a fight is going to be awesome when you’re going to be surprised and shocked no matter what happens. If either one of these guys gets knocked out, it’s going to be shocking because they’re both so tough. If either one gets submitted, it’s going to be shocking because they’re both so good on the ground.

I want Condit to win (and I think he will), but I really just cannot wait for this fight.

I pulled this off of Sherdog, I had the same thoughts as Hackleman.
John Hackleman: I have Court McGee sitting right here next to me, and we both kind of agree. We both think Nick-Condit is going to be a lot like Nate [Diaz] and [Donald] Cerrone. Nick is a lot like Nate in style, and Cerrone’s style is a lot like Condit’s style. I think it’ll turn out the same. I think Condit will be sharper and land early. He might even cut Nick, heaven forbid. That’ll be a first (laughs). But I think Nick is going to weather an early storm, throw sharper techniques and he’s going to plow forward like he always does. I think he’s going to stop him in the third. So, yeah, the styles are the same, and it’s an interesting matchup because of that.”
