They didn’t end up fighting in March, so they’ll shoot for August instead.
Bryan Caraway and Fredson Paixao are scheduled to meet in a featherweight bout on the upcoming WEC 50 card in Las Vegas on August 18. The two were set to square off in March, but a late injury to Caraway forced him off the card, and they will meet in August instead.
The bout was confirmed to MMAWeekly.com by sources close to the bout on Tuesday.
While Fredson Paixao (9-3) didn’t get to face Caraway in March, he did remain on the Columbus, OH card and made quick work of late replacement Courtney Buck, submitting him with a rear naked choke in the first round.
With the win, Paixao is 1-1-1 in the WEC, and looking to build on his last fight when he faces off against Caraway in August.
Making his return to action after recovering from the injury, Bryan Caraway (12-4) looks to have a better fight for his second fight in the WEC, after dropping his debut bout to Mark Hominick by submission in January.
The former Strikeforce and Elite XC fighter has also recently relocated to Sacramento, and started training with WEC mainstays like Urijah Faber and Joseph Benavidez as part of Team Alpha Male.
The bout between Caraway and Paixao will likely be in the undercard to the televised show, currently headlined by bantamweight champion Dominick Cruz taking on Joseph Benavidez.
