EliteXC, the promotion formed as part of the alliance of Pro Elite, Inc. and Showtime, has made a big splash, quickly, on the mixed martial arts scene; most notably because it will be the first MMA event aired on a premium cable network. On MMAWeekly Radio tonight, we feature two of the fighters scheduled to compete on that inaugural card.
Gina Carano, an up-and-comer out of Las Vegas, Nev. will be fighting on the televised portion of the card on Showtime. She is scheduled to face a very tough Julie Kedzie in what is probably the first major televised women’s MMA bout. Make no mistake, they’re not fighting because their women, they’re fighting because they are fighters and both have reputations as strong strikers, so it should be an exciting fight.
In a first for a promotion of this magnitude, EliteXC will have 5 undercard bouts that will be streaming live on the Internet. One of those bouts is set to feature Mike Pyle squaring off with Ross Ebanez. Pyle (11-3-1) is ready for a war against tough Hawaiian fighter Ebanez (13-4-1).
Both Carano and Pyle join MMAWeekly’s Damon & Jeff tonight to discuss their training for their respective fights, their opponents, being part of the new Showtime deal, and more, live tonight at 6pm PT / 9pm ET.
