Junior dos Santos vs Cain Velasquez UFC 155w_1209-478x270The third bout between heavyweights Cain Velasquez and Junior dos Santos has been confirmed for UFC 166 on Oct. 19 at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas.

UFC president Dana White confirmed the date and location at a media luncheon in Las Vegas on Monday. Las Vegas-based MMA reporter John Morgan first tweeted the news.

Velasquez (12-1) captured the UFC heavyweight title at UFC 121 on Oct. 3, 2010, by defeating then-champion Brock Lesnar by technical knockout in the first round.

He and dos Santos (16-2) first met during the UFC’s debut event on the Fox Networks on Nov. 12, 2011. Dos Santos knocked out Velasquez in just over a minute to win the title and earned Knockout of the Night.

The two faced off for a second time at UFC 155 on Dec. 29, 2012.  Velasquez defeated dos Santos in a one-sided bout to reclaim the UFC heavyweight title.

Dos Santos is coming off a highlight reel knockout of Mark Hunt at UFC 160 on May 25. Velasquez successfully defended his belt against Antonio Silva in the main event of the same card.

The heavyweight title bout is the only announced match-up for the Oct. 19 card at this time, but announcements for the remaining fight card are expected in the coming weeks.

    Cain will

Cain is going to dominate again. He is just too skilled. JDS has that overhand right which he needs to set up. Cain won’t give him a chance to set that up.

    • james velasquez

      i think so too

  • Baller31

I think JDS took Cain lightly the second fight. He will be motivated this fight, and will knockout Cain…again.

Having seen the real Cain in the second fight, JDS will be even more worried from being taken down. I just don’t see how JDS is going to deal with the pressure that Cain will put on him.

  • candelario

I like the way JDS looked in his last fight, he looks ready for war,,, should be a great fight

  • Frederick Usi Rosimo

    Again, Cain will smash JDS.

  • TheWorldsGreatest

JDS will be back to his self in this fight. Its gonna be a much better fight than the last 2. I have JDS by TKO in the 2nd

    • cooper

I have Cain with decision or TKO. TKO can happen in any round by ground and pound. Decision is more likely.

LOL I can’t beleive anyone thinks the last fight had anything to do with anything other than the fact that Junior should have been in a hospital not fighting !

This will be a different JDS who can go just as long and hard as Cain and will not get taken down !
    Nighty Night Cain !

I picked Cain both fights. I was wrong the first and right the second.

I have a feeling that MMA fans have a bias towards well-rounded guys.

    • Baller31

They are both extremely well rounded.

      • thefan

Cain is actually more well rounded because of his wrestling and endurance. JDS is good too as long as he is standing. This will be a good fight. I see Cain winning again unless he get caught early with the overhand which seems unlikely.
