Matt Ewin vs. Martin Kampmann Confirmed As The Main Event For Cagewarriors Strike Force 2 – UK vs. the World.
The Cagewarriors Fighting Championships are proud to announce that Danish star Martin Kampmann will replace Damien Riccio in the Main Event of Cagewarriors Strike Force 2 at the Skydome Arena in Coventry on July 16th
The Cagewarriors Middleweight Champion Matt Ewin is back at Cagewarriors on July 16th as he looks to put behind him a controversial no contest with Damien Riccio at Strike Force 1 in May when he defends his title against the Danish Destroyer Martin “The Hitman” Kampmann. Ewin was supposed to take on his arch nemesis Damien Riccio again at Strike Force 2 until the Frenchman pulled out with an injury. (This fight will now take place at CW:SF 3 on September 24th)
However Cagewarriors President Dougie Truman was able to find a solid replacement for Ewin in the form of Martin Kampmann who has already beaten Ewin at House of Pain Fight Night 2 in Wales back in March. On that date a series of wicked elbow shots by Kampmann resulted in Ewin being unable to come out for round 2.
Now Ewin wants revenge and has stated last week on Pro Karate Weekly that he was controlling the bout up to that point and is confident about winning the rematch and defending his title at the Skydome Arena, Coventry on July 16th.
Matt Ewin has beaten some of the best names in the UK MMA scene such as and has held the Cagewarriors Middleweight title since May 2004 when he beat Gregory Bouchelaghem in round 4 via Ref Stoppage. Ewin has also been famous for ending the unbeaten streak of young hopeful Ross Pettifer, Suley Mahmoud, Alex Evans, Sol Gilbert and Gaz Roriston as well as internationals such as BJJ Black Belt Tony Torres from Brazil and Frenchmen Jess Liaudin and Xavier Foupa-Pokam. However he has struggled as of late and is without a win in his last 5 fights against foreign opposition in other shows.
Whilst Martin Kampamnn at only 23 years old has already impressed many with his strength and all round ability. Despite his age Kampmann is already a former Danish Thai Boxing Champion, a Submission Wrestling Champion and also has experience in professional boxing too. These all round skills have helped Kampmann to a total MMA record of 9-2 and he has looked impressive as of late by defeating Ewin back in March, as well as defeating the likes of Xavier Foupa-Pokam and Toni Vivas.
However Kampmann’s most significant victory came at KOTC UK on June 24th when he defeated the then 8-6-1, American Brendan Seguin via KO with a perfect head kick which sent the multi time KOTC and Superbrawl veteran crashing to the canvas.
Can Kampmann return to the UK and capture the CWFC Title? On July 16th at the Skydome Arena, 3000 fans will find out. Tickets start at just 10 pounds with over 1200 standard tickets sold already and with VIP tables selling fast don’t delay.
