The
Cage Rage 20 Weigh-ins are in the books and all fighters made weight although
both Rob Broughton and his opponent Tengiz Tedoradze made weight after the
official weigh-ins having been delayed in traffic, that said, they are both
Heavyweights so there no issues with upper limits!

Some
notes and observations:
Kerr
looked huge at nearly 30 pounds heavier than his British opponent Mustafa
Al-Turk. He appeared to be calm and good spirits even though he was obviously
jetlagged. The promoters say he is back to his old ways, we shall see on fight
night!
James
Thompson is still looking trim and in the same condition he came to Yoshida in.
He is riding the crest of a wave confidence-wise and knows exactly what to
expect against Butterbean.
Daijiro
Matsui is very upset that the fight against Zelg Galesic didn’t come to
fruition, however, he is not looking past Tom Watson and he intends to show
that he is no pushover, that his skills are still sharp and that his warrior
mentality will see him taking home the win.
Paul
Daley was in attendance and he gave me the opportunity to get the lowdown on
his contract status. He is a free agent after his commitment to Cage Rage 21 /
Judgment Day. So he will definitely NOT be fighting on the UK UFC 70 card.
In
fact, he hasn’t actually signed with the UFC yet; Daley has three lucrative
contract offers on the table, each with their own merits and he is assessing
his future plans at the moment. The tabled offers are from the UFC, Cage Rage
and Elite XC. The UFC deal is exclusive to them meaning he has to relinquish
his Cage Rage and FX3 belts. But the Elite XC contract allows him to fight in
other organizations, providing it is outside of a 30-day lockout period
surrounding an event – this option really appeals to him, but he has
stressed no contacts have been signed!
Cage
Rage 21 card taking shape:
Paul
Daley will be fighting Wolfslair fighter Paul Kelly who steps into the breach
in place of Phil Norman who broke his arm in preparations for his Bodog debut
(obviously this isn’t happening now).
Bob
Sapp is also in attendance and has signed to fight on the Cage Rage 21 card on
the 21st of April against an opponent to be decided (most likely after the
event tomorrow).
London
Shootfighter James Zicic will be making a return to competition against
Evangelista Cyborg Santos.
Roman
Webber, a relatively unknown UK fighter (outside of the smaller shows) faces
off against Mark Epstein on the card, Roman Webber is a 2-2 fighter who is
basically living his own Rocky dream at the moment of coming from nowhere and
facing on of the top UK guys at Light-Heavyweight.
