Cage Force will hold its fifth event on Saturday night at the Tokyo Differ Ariake. Highlighting the card will be the finals of its lightweight and welterweight tournaments.
In the lightweight final, Killer Bee lightweight Koutetsu Boku takes on K-1 Heroes veteran Artur Oumakhanov.
Boku advanced to the tournament finals at Cage Force 4, defeating Pride veteran Eiji Mitsuoka with a narrow split decision in a hotly contested fight. Oumakhanov punched his ticket to the finals only three weeks ago, stopping Tomonari Kanomata by doctor’s stoppage at Cage Force EX Eastern Bound.
Oumakhanov was unable to compete at Cage Force 4 due to getting knocked out a month earlier at K-1 Heroes 9 by Andre Dida.
In the welterweight final, Shooto veteran Yoshiyuki Yoshida takes on English fighter Dan Hardy.
Yoshida shocked MMA insiders at Cage Force 4, stopping tournament favorite Akira Kikuchi in devastating fashion to advance to the finals. Hardy dominated Pancrase veteran Hidetaka Monma at Cage Force 4, forcing his corner to throw in the towel. The victory earned Hardy a spot in the finals.
Cage Force officials have stated that they hope both tournament winners will earn spots in the Ultimate Fighting Championship, but it is unknown whether or not their wish will come true.
Also scheduled to fight on the card are Shooto mainstays Yasuhiro Urushitani, Kenji Osawa, Mizuto Hirota and Takeya Mizugaki.
