After a hiatus from the fight game, Burt Watson is ROOOOOOLLLLLLLLLIIIIIIIIINNN’ once again.
According to a blog post at their official website, Cage Fury Fighting Championships announced that Burt has accepted a role with their promotion and is now “babysitting stars” for them.
Watson was apparently a spectator at CFFC 49 last month, only to find himself backstage and pumping up the co-main and main-event fighters ahead of their walkouts, much like he did for the UFC. The experience led to a job with the promotion.
Burt’s words, according to CFFC.tv:
“Motivating and giving fighters a comfort level at the highest level is my goal,” stated Watson. “Every professional MMA fighter can fight and deserves all the hype they can get to get the job done. That’s how and why I ‘roll’, thus ‘We Rollin’.
“Shortly after my departure from the UFC, I started getting a few calls for personal appearances and possible future work,” continued Watson. “My first email and conversation with Rob (Haydak) was very positive, very to the point and went directly to me coming to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania for the show on June 6th. I could see and feel the excitement. Incidentally, this was the first time I drove to an event in about six years! That visit led to our next meeting and getting a deal done.”
If y’all remember, Burt left the UFC after a snafu with someone within the organization who questioned his work. He didn’t appreciate the way they came at him, so he booked it and hasn’t looked back.
Let’s hope that he gets what he deems better treatment by the CFFC than he did the UFC.
