It’s not always easy being known as a knockout artist with serious stand-up skill.

For Brazilian prospect Bruno Carvalho being known as an extremely dangerous striker has led him to some vicious knockouts, but it also leads to getting tagged with the questions about his overall MMA game.

As Carvalho prepares for his next bout against Jurandir Sardinha this weekend in Brazil, he’s happy to show off his full compliment of MMA weaponry, but that doesn’t mean he’s going to go away from trying to knock every opponent out.

“I train everything so I can be prepared for all situations. I’ll always try to take the fight to my area, the fight standing,” Carvalho told MMAWeekly.com recently “But I’m ready to fight jiu jitsu if my opponent wants to put me down.”

Carvalho’s background in the Muay Thai world is well known throughout Brazil. He holds two wins over current UFC lightweight prospect Edson Barboza Jr., and has shown devastating power in both hands and feet in his striking career.

Now with his focus solely on MMA, Carvalho wants to prove that he’s ready for the big leagues and if that means pulling off a few submissions along the way then so be it.

“I already have some MMA fights and I already have experience to counter any opponent. In MMA I try to be prepared for everything and I’ll always try to look for the knockout,” said Carvalho.

Like so many fighters, Carvalho hopes to one day land on the radar of UFC matchmaker Joe Silva or Sean Shelby, but he’s happy to whatever it takes to finally fight in the Octagon one day.

Whether he’s one fight away or five fights away, Carvalho is committed to living his UFC dream, and that’s bigger than just making it to the big show.

“I work strong everyday for this opportunity,” said Carvalho. “I do not want to just be a UFC fighter. I’ll be the UFC champion.”
