Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza has a new opponent for Strikeforce: Tate vs. Rousey on March 3, in Columbus, OH.
Superior Cage Combat champion and former IFL fighter Bristol Marunde has been tapped as a replacement to face Jacare next weekend.
Strikeforce officials confirmed the replacement on Wednesday.
Originally, Souza was set to face Derek Brunson on the main card, but Brunson was forced out of the fight with the Ohio Athletic Commission denied his license following an eye test the revealed the fighter had severely impaired vision.
At 15-6, Marunde is a veteran of several different fight promotions including a stint in the IFL several years ago.
More recently, Marunde has reeled off four wins in a row including a unanimous decision victory over former UFC fighter Jay Silva to claim the Superior Cage Combat title.
Now Marunde gets a big step up in competition as he faces Ronaldo ‘Jacare’ Souza in Strikeforce.
