Brenneman vs. Roberts On Tap for UFC on FX 1

Charlie Brenneman

Welterweights Charlie Brenneman and Daniel “Ninja” Roberts will square off as a part of the UFC on FX 1 undecard on Jan. 20 from Nashville.

Sources close to the match-up confirmed the bout to MMAWeekly.com on Monday. NBC Sports first reported the fight.

Charlie Brenneman gets back in action after suffering a tough knockout loss to Anthony Johnson in his last fight at UFC on Versus 6 in early October.

Prior to that, Brenneman was coming off of possibly the biggest win of his career when he defeated Rick Story, after stepping up on 24-hours notice to take the fight when Nate Marquardt was removed from the card.

Now Brenneman will look to get back on track when he faces Cesar Gracie fight team member Daniel Roberts.

Roberts will enter the fight in January off of back-to-back losses to Rich Attonito and Claude Patrick, and will be in desperate need of a win.

The fight between Brenneman and Roberts will be on the UFC on FX 1 undercard, which will likely air on Fuel TV on Jan. 20.

This is a must win fight for both of these guys.

It’s definitely a must win for Daniel Roberts. That would be three losses in a row and that’s almost always a pink slip. I think Charlie will be okay either way. Beating Story is a big win and then there’s no shame in losing to Anthony Johnson.

You’re right, I forgot about the Story win. He’s probably safe as long as he doesn’t go out there and stink the place up with a terrible showing.

Shame on him for losing to Anthony Johnson

Not a fan of Brenneman. I listen to a lot of MMA podcasts, and after he beat Story, his head got huge. He was very condescending about other fighters and his own skills, and then he goes out and loses.

Humility is a good trait for fighters period, but if you aren’t going to be humble, you should at least wait until you win a few fights.

Also, @ Therealmo, how could you say shame on him for losing to Johnson. Johnson is a beast; he has great wrestling and standup. Brenneman really only has wrestling, and against a guy like Johnson, who probably outweighs him by 30 pounds, it’s really not surprising.
