Tito OrtizBellator’s worst nightmare leading up to its first pay-per-view offering came true on Friday when Tito Ortiz had to withdraw from his main event match-up with Quinton “Rampage” Jackson. sources close to the event on Friday confirmed the news first reported by

Bellator, known for its tournament format and weekly events on Spike TV, was building the majority of its promotional efforts around the Rampage vs. Tito main event, and even billed it as Bellator: Rampage vs. Tito.

The card, slated for Nov. 2 in Long Beach, Calif., also features several title bouts, and most of Bellator’s more prominent names, but as of the time of publication, it was unclear what direction the promotion would take with its main event falling apart.

I think Tito got scared and played up the first knick he got in training.

…and the card actually got better because of this.

    • Mark McDowall

Agreed. The PPV probably would do a bit better without this.

  • Wolf Ticket

They still have Queen Mo on that card…which may even be better fight than the one with Tito.

  • Charles

Que the obligatory comments from Tito about how he’ll finally fight 100% next fight and didn’t want to come in injured like his past 10 fights.

haha spot on. and then when he loses he can blame a fractured skull again, mad cow disease, or a pulled uterus.

  • Cameron Merryman

I CALLED THIS! The day after it broke I knew Cheeto would bitch out! HAHAHAHA

  • Spence

I might actually watch this card now. But I have to admit, I had a good chuckle when I first read this 🙂

  • King_DG

Seriously I knew this was going to happen, they put so much promotional effort into this fight and now it’s not going to happen! HAHAHAHHAHA Bellator is a joke

  • Mark McDowall

Wow…bye bye Bellator PPV…and probably Bellator in general!

  • Shaggy

Tito did not bitch out and this is NOT a disaster for Bellator. The disaster was going to be the PPV. I think Bellator got Tito to back out. Now they can cancel the PPV and put the fights on Spike without admitting they failed miserably.

    • Mark McDowall

I have to agree. I think they were starting to see that it wasn’t going to go well so when Tito showed up with an injury…they pulled the plus as soon as they could. I think the PPV would have done ok with that fight taken off of it.

  • put me in the sauna coach

normally Tito waits to talk about his injuries after he loses.
