It’s another reason to listen to MMAWeekly Radio every day. Josh “The Punk” Thomson who was scheduled to leave for Japan for Bushido 8 next week, will NOT be competiting in the event.
In an MMAWeekly Radio exclusive, Thomson told MMAWeekly that he was offered a fight with Chute Box fighter Luis Azeredo, but for whatever reason Azeredo and the Chute Box team turned down the fight.
Thomson then told MMAWeekly Radio’s Ryan Bennett and Frank Trigg that he was then offered a fight with Yves Edwards but that fight will not happen either.
“It’s tough because you train all that time and your ready to go and now you don’t have a fight. I will just have to look somewhere else, in another organization and try to get a fight very soon.”
Thomson hasn’t fought in MMA in almost a year. His last fight was his tough loss to Yves Edwards at UFC 49. He has had a couple of kickboxing matches to stay busy. “Even when I just fought in kickboxing that fight lasted just :51 seconds so I just want a fight.”
Thomson talked about a few other things including the Pride 160 pound tournament, his upcoming fight in October and a few other things as well that you can catch on the radio archive. MMA premiere oddsmaker, Joey Oddessa of betoddessa.com and consultant for sportsbook.com was also on the show giving his take on the Phil Baroni vs Ryo Chonan fight. A good hour of radio that’s up right now on the Radio Archive.
