UFC 189 is continuing to grow.

A welterweight match between Brandon Thatch and John Howard has been booked for the Las Vegas fight card, according to a report from “UFC Tonight” on Wednesday.

The bout adds to the developing card, which takes place on July 11 at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

Thatch (11-2) last fought in a loss to former lightweight champion Benson Henderson. Although he appeared to have the edge through a majority of the fight, Thatch succumbed to Henderson’s ground game and tapped out to a rear-naked choke. The loss was his first in the UFC.

Howard (22-11) is on the heels of a three-fight losing streak. This comes after two consecutive wins in his return to the organization.

UFC 189 is scheduled to be headlined by a featherweight title fight between champ Jose Aldo and challenger Conor McGregor.

i thought doomsday won the laflare fight, but i have no idea what happened to him with ebersole. larkin just came out like a new man so that loss is understandable. i like doomsday, but i think he might be headin back to the b-leagues after this one =[

Howard has good muay thai. I was disappointed with his performance against Ebersole too. I think he just couldn’t figure out that awkward style. Thatch is a beast with his standup as well. This should be a good kickboxing fight.

yeah ebersole is a wild card. one of those guys i never really feel comfortable betting on/against.

We’ll see whose muay thai and clinch game is better.
