The Ultimate Fighting Championship on Wednesday announced several bouts for its UFC 86 fight card scheduled for July 5 in Las Vegas.
The already announced main event features UFC light heavyweight champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson defending his belt against No. 6 ranked challenger Forrest Griffin. The two are currently serving as coaches on the seventh season of The Ultimate Fighter.
Bouts officially added to the UFC 86 card include Frank Mir vs. Justin McCully, Joe Stevenson vs. Gleison Tibau, and Melvin Guillard vs. Dennis Siver.
Mir returns to the Octagon after putting a damper on the UFC debut of Brock Lesnar at UFC 82. He will be trying to continue his push to become a challenger to Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira’s heavyweight title.
McCully enters the fight on a four-bout winning streak, including his UFC debut against Antoni Hardonk. He has, however, been out of action for more than a year due to an elbow injury.
In his first fight back since his failed title bid against B.J. Penn, Stevenson faces American Top Team fighter Tibau, who lost to Tyson Griffin in his last bout.
After dropping his last two bouts in the Octagon, Guillard comes back to the UFC after scoring a unanimous decision at March’s Rage in the Cage event. He faces Siver, a German fighter who lost to Gray Maynard in his most recent bout.
