A lightweight match-up between Al Iaquinta and Bobby Green has been scheduled for UFC Fight Night 72, officials announced on Wednesday.

The bout adds to the developing card, which takes place July 15 at the Valley View Casino Center in San Diego.

Iaquinta (12-3-1) is on a roll lately, reeling off four UFC wins in a row. In his last effort, Iaquinta fought a close fight with Jorge Masvidal at a UFC Fight Night earlier this month.

Green (23-6) recently had an eight-fight win streak snapped with a loss to Edson Barboza at a UFC Fight Night last November. Prior to the loss, he picked up notable wins over Josh Thomson and Pat Healy.

UFC Fight Night 72 is scheduled to be headlined by a heavyweight fight between Frank Mir and Todd Duffee. Countless references to legendary San Diego newsman Ron Burgundy are expected to will be made.

I’m willing to give Iaquinta a 1 time pass for the way he acted after that last fight….here’s to hoping that was a moment of insanity because I like seeing the Serra/Longo guys do well…helps put pressure on the NY gov’t idiots to get their head out of their respective %$#es and let MMA in.

The one time pass was when he destroyed his hotel room because he didn’t win the fight of the night bonus. Iaquinta is immature and full of himself I find it hard to like anything about him.

That must have gotten by me….so I guess my proverbial leash is even smaller.

this is a good match-up. bobby’s gonna no-sell every strike and it’s just gonna get al fired up. winner-loser here makes sense given the circumstances of al’s last fight, but still glad he’s getting another name.
