Spike TV will present a special cable telecast of some of the most exciting bouts from UFC 100, one of the biggest nights in the history of mixed martial arts, on Saturday, August 15 at 10:00pm-12:30am ET/PT. Emanating from the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, NV on July 11, 2009, UFC 100 was a milestone event in the 16-year history of the UFC organization. The Spike TV telecast of UFC 100* includes the following fights:
Heavyweight Championship Bout Brock Lesnar vs. Frank Mir
Middleweights Dan Henderson vs. Michael Bisping
Middleweights Alan Belcher vs. Yoshihiro Akiyama

Keith Kizer, Executive Director of the Nevada State Athletic Commission, on Tuesday released the "provisional" numbers for the live gate and closed circuit revenue generated by UFC 100 last Saturday, July 11.
The promotion's centennial event sold 9,793 tickets with 1,078 issued as "comps" for $5,128,490 in revenue. Closed circuit broadcasts at the Mandalay Bay and MGM Grand hotels sold 6,256 tickets with 575 issued as "comps" for $312,800 in revenue.
As it stands, UFC 100 is Nevada's second highest grossing MMA show, and with preliminary PPV buyrate estimates of over one million, the card may go down as the most lucrative endeavor in the company's history.
At the pre-fight press conference for 100, president Dana White promised to base jump off the Mandalay Bay if PPV buyrates hit 1.5 million.
It was a year in the making, but Joe Rogan finally goaded UFC M.C. Bruce Buffer into pulling off the Buffer 360... and Rogan nearly lost his mind! Not only that, but UFC matchmaker Joe Silva made an extremely rare special guest appearance in this video. Of course, his confidence in Buffer never wavered.

Georges St. Pierre vs. Thiago Alves (Welterweight): GSP in my opinion is the much more complete fighter and is the more disciplined fighter. As far as just being a fighter and, in general, the type of guy that loves to get down and probably would be fighting once a week on the street anyways if he wasn't fighting, you gotta go with Thiago on that one. You've got a killer instinct on that guy that is really dangerous, but unless he can knock out St. Pierre, I think St. Pierre is gonna take it.
Brock Lesnar vs. Frank Mir (Heavyweight): Lesnar has been improving quite a bit. With the right training partners, he's gonna be very, vary hard to stop. But Frank Mir is crafty and this is the most dedicated he's been in the sport and working the hardest, more than he ever has in this sport. He looked the biggest, the strongest that I've seen him as well. I'm expecting a great fight. It's either gonna be Lesnar by TKO or Mir by tricky submission.
To help promote GSP's upcoming title fight, Gatorade has officially released the first full Georges St. Pierre commercial for their "G" campaign. The commercials are airing in Canada as of July 9.
UFC Heavyweight Champion Frank Mir join MMAWeekly.com partner BetUs.com to talk a bit about his training, his strategy and his thoughts on fighting Brock Lesnar for the undisputed UFC Heavyweight Championship this Saturday at UFC 100 in Las Vegas.
Head on over to BetUS.com to listen to the interview with Mir and, if you choose, you can get in on this MASSIVE UFC betting event with BetUS.com, and receive $100 free for a $100 deposit, AND a free entry into an exclusive UFC 100 Poker tourney.

The ever expanding world of advertising surrounding MMA superstar and UFC welterweight champion, Georges St. Pierre, hit a new market this week as the Canadian was featured on the latest ads for Gatorade's "G" campaign in Rolling Stone magazine.
St. Pierre was previously featured in a Gatorade commercial that aired all over Canada and featured other sports stars such as Miami Heat guard, Dwayne Wade, and hockey legend, Gordie Howe.
Now, Gatorade has taken the next step to push GSP out to the American fans with a two page spread in Rolling Stone that features the athlete alongside the words, "No Excuses, No Truces."
St. Pierre's manager, Shari Spencer, commented about her client's deal with Gatorade, and how the two brands will continue to grow together in the future.
"Georges' relationship with Gatorade has recently expanded into the US, where he will be featured in a national print campaign launching July 1st that includes Rolling Stone magazine and outdoor advertising in the New York City & Los Angeles markets," Spencer said.
As St. Pierre readies for his July 11 showdown against #1 contender, Thiago Alves, the Gatorade ads will continue to grow and help the sport of MMA gain even more mainstream exposure.
The only question left is when will Gatorade start a campaign centered around St. Pierre much like their 90's ads featuring basketball mega star, Michael Jordan?
Rumina Sato. Fredson Paixao. Joe Stevenson. Vinicius Magalhaes. Jeff Glover. Ulysses Gomez. Bill Cooper. To those in the grappling world, the names represent the best of the best. To have them in the same hall together at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center is electrifying enough. To see them competing against each other in four Superfights that cap off the largest Submission Grappling tournament in history is something that could only be held at the UFC Fan Expo on Friday, July 10th and Saturday, July 11th, just hours before the lights go down for the biggest event in mixed martial arts history, UFC 100.
In the headline Superfight on Friday, July 10th, mixed martial arts pioneer Rumina "Moon Wolf" Sato faces Ulysses "Useless" Gomez. Also in action on Friday, July 10th, against an opponent to be determined, will be The Ultimate Fighter 8's Vinicius Magalhaes. On Saturday, July 11th, the action continues with a match pitting four-time Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu world champion and WEC contender Fredson Paixao against 22-time Grapplers Quest champ Jeff "Pipelayer" Glover, and an intriguing showdown between UFC lightweight contender Joe "Daddy" Stevenson and Bill "The Grill" Cooper. The Superfight doubleheaders on both days begin at 1pm.
"For fans of the ground game, this is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to see some of the world's premier grapplers in one place competing against each other," said UFC President Dana White.
Tickets for the first-ever UFC Fan Expo -- which leads up to the historic UFC 100 event that takes place at the Mandalay Bay Events Center on Saturday, July 11th -- are limited, but are still on sale and can be bought exclusively at www.ufcfanexpo.com. V.I.P. Passes sold out quickly, but fans can still buy tickets to the Expo, and Customers that purchase in advance will receive $10 off the two-day pass.
About The Competitors: Perhaps Japan's most influential mixed martial artist ever, Rumina "Moon Wolf" Sato has inspired countless fighters to not only take up the sport, but to take it to new levels. A pro since 1994, Sato has fought the world's best, including John Lewis, Yves Edwards, Caol Uno, Takanori Gomi, Javier Vazquez, Alexandre Nogueira, Joachim Hansen, and Gilbert Melendez. And when it comes to his grappling prowess, suffice to say that the Shooto legend and master of the flying armbar can do it all on the mat, making this rare United States appearance a must see for fight fans.
A native of Los Angeles who now makes his home in Las Vegas, Ulysses "Useless" Gomez has been training in the art of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu since 2001, and this purple belt has learned his lessons well, winning championships in Grapplers Quest, Desert Quest, IGJJF, NAGA, and the Mt. Sac Submission Open. Gomez was also the first American to win a Gold medal in the FILA Pankration World Championships. Currently 3-1 in MMA, this member of Marc Laimon's Cobra Kai team is eager to perform on the big stage against the world-renowned Rumina Sato.
If you wanted to list Fredson Paixao's accomplishments in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, you would probably need at least this entire page. Suffice to say that the 30-year old from Parintins -- a four-time world champion -- is one of the best grapplers of this era. Now competing in MMA for the WEC, Paixao -- who is only the second person in the world to go from purple to black belt in just four years -- will get back to his roots by grappling competitively during the UFC Fan Expo.
With 22 Grapplers Quest titles to his name, California's Jeff Glover has taken the jiu-jitsu world by storm. Add in accolades as a 2008 IBJJF No-Gi World Championship-Silver Medalist, 2008 PacSun Hawaii Absolute/No-Gi/Gi Champion, 2007 IBJJF No-Gi World Championship-Gold Medalist, and it's clear why seeing Glover's name on the marquee means some high-level jiu-jitsu. Rated to have the number one rated guard in the United States by Gracie Magazine, Glover will put all his skills to the test against world champion Fredson Paixao.
Winner of 35 MMA fights, including a recent victory over Nate Diaz, UFC lightweight contender Joe Stevenson is one of the top fighters in the world, but what some may not know is that he's also a skilled grappler. A Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt under BJJ superstar Robert Drysdale, Stevenson has ended four MMA fights with his devastating guillotine choke, and he will be looking to test it against Bill Cooper on July 11th.
22-year old jiu-jitsu phenom Bill "The Grill" Cooper earned his black belt from Ricardo Miller at the age of 20, and he's done his teacher proud to the tune of 24 Grapplers Quest titles from around the country. Now teaching in Thousand Oaks, California, Cooper will face one of the toughest tests of his young career in Joe Stevenson this July.
Rio De Janeiro's Vinicius "Pezao" Magalhaes first came to the attention of UFC fans in 2008, when he finished three opponents in the first round en route to a spot in the finals of The Ultimate Fighter's eighth season. But to those in the jiu-jitsu community, Magalhaes' reputation was already rock solid. Winner of eight medals at the BJJ World Championships (four Gold, one Silver and three Bronze), this black belt under Vinicius Aieta and Royler Gracie will show UFC fans even more dimensions of his game when he steps on the mat on July 10th.
Please note that all rings of the UFC Fan Expo tournament will be stopped during these Superfights, and that while fans will get to see all the tournament and Superfight action, seating will be limited and handled on a first come, first served basis.
The UFC and Inspirit are proud to announce the participation of Shooto legend Rumina Sato at the UFC Fan Expo on July 10 and 11 in conjunction with UFC 100. Sato will be participating in a grappling superfight against seven-time Grapplers Quest champion Ulysses "Useless" Gomez on July 10. On July 11, he will be conducting a once in a lifetime seminar at the UFC Fan Expo.
Sato is known as one of the pioneers of mixed martial arts in Japan, captivating fans with his relentless submission attacks. Whether it is in Shooto or grappling events around the world, Sato has developed a reputation as one of the best lock flow submission fighters in the world. Now on July 11 at the UFC Fan Expo, he will teach his techniques and secrets to a small group of lucky fans that will be amazed by his precision and expertise on submission grappling.
"Rumina Sato is not only one of the legends of mixed martial arts, but he's been an inspiration to a whole generation of fighters. I think it's safe to say that without Sato, you wouldn't be seeing fighters like Caol Uno or Yushin Okami today. So it's an honor for us to have him participating in the UFC Fan Expo, and I'm positive that taking part in his seminar and watching him grapple will be something our fans won't ever forget," said UFC President Dana White of Rumina Sato's participation at the UFC Fan Expo.
Sato will also be signing autographs and taking pictures with fans throughout the UFC Fan Expo on both July 10 and 11 at the Rumina Sato/Inspirit booth. Don't miss this once in a lifetime opportunity to meet one of the true pioneers of mixed martial arts and submission grappling in Japan.
ESPN 1100's Steve Cofield talks with UFC president Dana White about a number of subjects, but notably about the "he is, he isn't" situation around Chuck Liddell retiring from mixed martial arts, the Cro Cop situation, Roger Huerta's return, and Vitor Belfort's prospects in the UFC.
Liddell has been mum on the retirement talk, but the UFC has said they will induct someone into the Hall of Fame at UFC 100. Are they just waiting for the Hall of Fame ceremony to make a dual announcement out of Chuck's retirement and then subsequent induction into the Hall of Fame or are they inducting someone else entirely?
UFC on Saturday announced that the Limp Bizkit concert event planned for Friday, July 10 at the Mandalay Bay Beach has been cancelled. Tickets will be refunded at place of purchase.
As part of the UFC 100 event weekend, the concert was to be the first Limp Bizkit show in the United States with the original line-up in eight years. The band was also planning to attend the UFC Fan Expo to sign autographs.
The breathing techniques employed by GSP cornerman Phil Nurse--and taught by holistic healer Steven Friend--set off a three-month controversy beat to death by conspiracy theorists who believed the welterweight champion was cheating.
In May, the Nevada State Athletic Commission essentially put an end to the saga, taking no formal action against GSP or his cornermen for the incident at UFC 94 known as "Greasegate."
Shortly after the controversy, the UFC amended its rules for cornerman to prohibit the application of Vaseline by anyone other than a UFC-approved cutman.
You'd think GSP might avoid the technique--a rubbing of hands over the chest and back--in future competitions, but the champ didn't rule it out for his fight with Thiago Alves at UFC 100.
"I don't know about this, but maybe," he said. "We'll see. I know in this fight, they're going to check us a lot, and I'm all for this. I never cheat in my life. I'm a proud champion and I want to win fair and square.
"I'm not the only one who has done the breathing technique before. But it's not going to change the result of the fight, with or without it."
Current UFC middleweight contender and former two-division PRIDE champion Dan Henderson will be the special guest on Friday's edition of Jim Rome is Burning on ESPN TV. Rome will be discussing the UFC 100 card with Henderson, who faces Michael Bisping in a highly-anticipated clash of Ultimate Fighter coaches. Tune in for the LIVE interview segment at 4:30pm ET/1:30pm PT on Friday June 26th.

Don’t miss this soon to be collector’s item.
Jon Jones, who faces Jake O'Brien at historic UFC 100 on July 11th, makes no "Bones" about who he's picking in Georges St. Pierre's third welterweight title defense against Thiago Alves.
"I'm so excited about GSP," Jones told MMAWeekly Radio Tuesday. "I admire his work ethic and his championship mindset, and I can't wait to see him pick apart and destroy Alves."
Jones says he tried to carry that championship mindset into his own training for O'Brien.
"I really try to look at what these guys are doing and what's working for them and try to be the next one of those guys."
The 22 year-old says fighting on the such a huge card will be almost as big a reward as the check he gets at the end of the night. Almost.
"I'm a big groupie of a lot of the bigger name fighters, still," he said. "I'm really excited that I get to be backstage with these guys, the same locker room as these guys, and I can't wait till my fight is over, and I can sit in the audience. Hopefully I'll have good tickets."
The history of the Ultimate Fighting Championship is filled with stories of legendary fights and athletes who built a sport behind skill, heart, and determination. On July 10th and 11th, just before the lights go down and the first bell rings for July 11th's historic UFC 100 event, fans will have the opportunity to meet and greet the fighters who made mixed martial arts what it is today, as well as the ones carrying the flag for the next generation, all under one roof at the Mandalay Bay Convention Center during the UFC Fan Expo.

"I started hearing about UFC 100 around UFC 90. I am blown away by how excited fans were for this event," said UFC President Dana White. "So I made sure to stack this card with the greatest fights and greatest fighters in the world, and keep ticket prices consistent with our other big events. Once again, our fans responded with a record sellout. This is another great milestone for the UFC. And now, July 11 will feature not only an amazing live event in Las Vegas, but also our fans in New York City will experience a truly one-of-a-kind viewing party at the iconic Radio City Music Hall."
In the UFC 100 main event, the undisputed UFC Heavyweight Championship will be decided when reigning titleholder Brock Lesnar faces interim champion Frank Mir in one of the most highly anticipated rematches in heavyweight history.
The co-featured bout of the evening will see UFC Welterweight Champion Georges "Rush" St-Pierre put his title on the line against feared striker Thiago "Pitbull" Alves, a man many believe has the style and size to dethrone the seemingly unbeatable champion.
And rounding out the trio of superfights is a pivotal middleweight matchup pitting the coaches of the ninth season of The Ultimate Fighter, Dan Henderson and Michael "The Count" Bisping, against each other in a bout that will push the winner even closer to a 185-pound title shot.
If there's a fighter that knows how to put on a show it is Summit, New Jersey born fighter Frankie Edgar. The 27-year-old lightweight fighter, who now trains in Toms River, shocked many in the mixed martial arts community with his dominating unanimous decision victory against former UFC lightweight champion Sean Sherk at UFC 98 in May. Edgar is 10-1 as a professional mixed martial artist and graduated from Clarion University with a B.A. in Political Science.
Utica, New York's Matt Hamill has opened plenty of eyes in the UFC's light heavyweight division. The 32-year-old former college wrestler knocked out Mark Munoz at UFC 96 in March and is becoming a true contender at the 205-pound class. Hamill, who happens to be deaf, is 6-2 in the UFC and remains a true inspiration.

Thiago Alves sits down with Kenny Rice and Bas Rutten on Inside MMA to talk about the winning streak that has put him into a title fight with UFC welterweigth champion Georges St. Pierre, likely to take place at UFC 100 in July.
Along with popularity comes an exponential amount of rumor and speculation and the Ultimate Fighting Championship is no exception... by far. If anything, having such a hardcore following on the Internet only adds fuel to the speculative fires surround the MMA juggernaut.
Accordingly, UFC president Dana White spends a lot of his time answering questions about things that just aren't true or at least haven't even been considered yet. One such rumor has been regarding plans for the UFC's century mark in numbered events.
There has been a lot of chatter on the boards lately that the UFC has planned to put all of their titles on the line at UFC 100... a true "Night of Champions" type of fight card.
Not true said White recently in England. He said that he has, "No ideas for UFC100," but it's not going to be a case of all five of the current weight classes putting titles on the line. That would just be too long of a night.
All UFC title bouts are five rounds of five minutes each. If you were to factor in that all five bouts could possibly go the distance that alone takes up most of the time alloted to a pay-per-view event, leaving little or no time for introductions, pre-fight hype, or instances where a fight may have to be put on hold for a doctor's check or other unforseen circumstances.
