Kimbo and Other TUF Guys Added to 2009 Topps UFC Cards

PRESS RELEASE:

Topps announces it is adding legendary brawler Kimbo Slice's first-ever autographed trading card to the highly anticipated 2009 Topps UFC trading cards. Kimbo, along with 15 other fighters from TUF (The Ultimate Fighter) 10 reality television show premiering Sept. 17 will be included... all on-card autographs and all extra content above and beyond the guaranteed hits! To coincide with the launch of TUF 10 and to include these new cards, 2009 Topps UFC trading cards will now ship Sept. 21.

Topps Releases More UFC Card Images and Answers Questions

Topps, on its official UFC blog, on Monday released more information and images of its upcoming UFC trading card series.

Along with four new images of Ultimate Fighter 9 trading cards, Topps answered a couple of questions that fans have had about the upcoming series:

Base cards will be a mix of individual fighter and personality cards as well as "UFC Debuts" that will feature the 2 fighters (who) participated in a particular person's first foray in a UFC Octagon.

There seems to be concerns about not getting autographs from the more established fighters and only having the opportunity to get autos from the TUF 9 competitors. Let me assure you of two things. One, these TUF 9 cards are limited (Approx. 100-200 per subject) and we will also be including many of the top stars from UFC events including many current and past champions and title contenders.

Topps Announces UFC Trading Cards in Time for UFC 100

In a blog post on Friday, Topps announced its next round of UFC trading cards. According to the post, the plan is for the set to be available at the UFC Fan Expo, which takes place the weekend of UFC 100 in July.

According to the post:

The set, called 2009 Topps UFC, will feature many of your favorite UFC fighters past and present in their own card. It will also contain cards highlighting fighters who recently debuted within the UFC Octagon such as Jon Jones, Dan and Jim Miller, Dan Hardy, Ryan Bader, and Efrain Escodero.

In addition to the 165 card base set there will be several insert sets. Our Bloodlines insert with showcase fighters and their diverse heritage. The Greats of the Game insert will feature graphics and stats from the soon to be released video game from THQ, UFC 2009 Undisputed.

Each hobby box will contain 16 packs and guarantee 2 autographed cards and 2 memorabilia cards per box. The suggested retail price will be $4.00 per pack.

We are expanding our line-up of autograph and memorabilia subject to include fighters and personalities that were not in Round 1. For example, unique to this product will be the first autographed cards from all 16 competitors from The Ultimate Fighter: USA vs UK. These cards were produced and signed ON CARD while we were at the UFC Training Facility in January.

Topps Announces Round 1 of UFC Trading Cards, GSP and Serra Signings

Topps and The UFC are pleased to announce that the first ever UFC exclusive trading card product will ship mid-late January 2009... and it's appropriately named "TOPPS UFC-ROUND ONE!"
