After two unsuccessful UFC fights, Australian based lightweight Bernardo Magalhaes returns to the Australian MMA circut on Sept. 14 in Cronulla, Sydney, when he faces Sydney-sider Sonny Brown in the main event at Proud Warrior Productions’ next event, PWP 5.
The Cage Fighting Championship champion, Magalhaes built his name in Australian before finally getting his chance with the UFC earlier this year. It wasn’t a successful Octagon debut for the Brazilian born fighter, losing to fellow newcomer Tim Means before he was on the wrong end of a split decision against Henry Martinez in June.
Magalhaes has been told by the UFC to build up some wins in another promotion before returning to the big stage.
His opponent, Sonny Brown, will return from injury in Cronulla after hurting his back training for his January fight. The BRACE lightweight champion is currently on a five-fight winning streak that stretches back to 2009.
The PWP 5 card is stacked with a selection of Australia’s fighters including Shabe Kafo, who pulled of a “Twister” finish in his previous fight at CFC 21. He will take on Greg Penaloza.
