It’s not quite the two-week turn that Donald Cerrone made to face him, but Benson Henderson on Thursday agreed to return to the Octagon in short order to fill-in for an injured Bobby Green at UFC Fight Night 63 in Virginia.

Green had been slated to face Jorge Masvidal on the April 4 fight card, but has been forced out of the fight due to a torn quadriceps muscle, according to UFC officials, who also announced Henderson as Masvidal’s new opponent.

04-Benson-Henderson-UFC-150-w_3529Henderson (21-5) was fired up and ready to get right back in the Octagon after a controversial unanimous-decision loss to Cerrone at UFC Fight Night 59 on Sunday. The loss was made it the first time in Henderson’s career that he suffered back-to-back defeats.

Only a year-and-a-half removed from having held the UFC lightweight championship, Henderson wants to waste no time correcting his career course. He’ll get the opportunity to get right back into fight mode, making a two-month turnaround.

Masvidal (28-8), however, is not an easy fight for anyone. He has won five out of his six UFC bouts, including his three most recent outings, with victories over Pat Healy, Daron Cruickshank, and James Krause.

A featherweight contender’s bout between Chad Mendes and Ricardo Lamas headlines UFC Fight Night 63, with the main card airing at a special start time of 1 p.m. ET on FOX Sports 1 in the United States.

Good for Henderson. Although, I believe he should be fighting Nurmagomedov.

I don’t think any fighter with two losses in a row should fight Nurmagomedov. Respectfully.

Wolf: I’m pretty sure Jon M. meant that Henderson “beat” Coboy and therefore should be fighting Nurmagomedov, while Donald “should”/could be taking this fight vs Masvidal.

          Hmm, good point, thanks.

i’d rather not see henderson knock off another top contender like he has already done with thomson, melendez, diaz and edgar.

Yeah this is not an easy fight for him anyway, hopefully he comes out aggressive and goes for the finish. He played it safe, looking for his patented decision victory and it blew up in his face. After some of the other scoring on the night he should of tried to finish Cowboy.

Jorge hasn’t faced any elite names in UFC therefore he won’t be prepared for what Bendo brings to the table.

Where are all the comments about what a warrior Henderson is for stepping up so quickly after his last fight?
If this were Cerronne that’s what all the comments would be about/

Nobody cares about the decision warrior safe to say Ben is not
      a fan favorite anymore.
