Benson Henderson: Anthony Pettis is Not Leaving the Octagon with My Belt (Video)

Benson Henderson UFC on Fox 7 Pre-478x270UFC lightweight champion Benson Henderson rematches the last person to defeat him, Anthony Pettis, at UFC 164 on Aug. 31, and expects to retain his title.  The two first met at WEC 53 in December 2010, when Pettis defeated Henderson by unanimous decision. Pettis’ victory ended Henderson’s reign as WEC lightweight champion.

Can Pettis take his belt again? Henderson doesn’t think so.

“Anthony Pettis is not leaving the Octagon with my belt,” said the champion.  “I bust my butt too hard to lose.”

  1. Go Pettis!

  2. Bendo earns his pay. This division is deep and he won’t be getting an easy challenger anytime soon. May the best man win.

    • Agreed, plus he earned that belt. A lot of people see him going down at some point because of how close his fights have been, but it’s not going to be an easy fight for anyone.

I really don’t think the first fight between Henderson and Pettis means anything to me, as far as predicting this fight. The fight was close enough that I don’t necessarily see that fight as some kind of barometer of success for Pettis.

Pettis has just looked unstoppable lately. I wanted to see Pettis/Aldo more, but this one is really starting to intrigue me too.

      • I’m still worried about AP’s knee and how it will hold up for 25mins.
