Bellator Fighting Championships will kick off their 4th season on MTV2 on March 5 with their welterweight tournament taking center stage.
The show takes place at the Tachi Palace Hotel and Casino in California, and the four first round match-ups taking place in their 170lb division will be the featured fights on the main card.
The first round bouts include former UFC and Strikeforce veteran Jay Hieron making his Bellator debut against past tournament participant Steve Carl.
Last season’s tournament runner-up Dan Hornbuckle returns to action to face Brent Weedman, while former champion Lyman Good matches up against Chris Lozano.
The final tournament pairing will pit undefeated judo fighter Rick Hawn against British born Jim Wallhead.
“This welterweight tournament is stacked. Every fight should be hyper-competitive” said Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney. “Any one of these 8 fighters could win it, make $100,000 and earn the right to fight (Ben) Askren for our world title.”
The tournament kicks off on March 5 in California, with subsequent rounds taking place in mostly likely in April and May.
