Bellator Champ Hector Lombard Jumps to the UFC

Posted on by Ken Pishna

Bellator middleweight champion Hector LombardBellator Fighting Championships is losing one its champions.

With no “champions clause” in Bellator contracts and his four-year deal coming to a close, Bellator middleweight champion Hector Lombard is leaving the promotion and heading to the UFC.

“I am in the UFC it is official,” Lombard tweeted on Tuesday afternoon.

Lombard is a big loss for Bellator, and a solid acquisition for the MMA juggernaut.

Lombard is the only middleweight champion that Bellator has ever had, although the promotion has had a difficult time keeping him busy, primarily having him fight in non-title bouts. He’s also fought several times during his Bellator tenure for other promotions on his home turf in Australia.

Lombard brings with him a 31-2-1 record to the Octagon. He hasn’t lost a fight since 2006, having when 20 consecutive bouts.

No word yet on just when we can expect to see Lombard in the Octagon, but he’s sure to be a welcome addition to a division that is swiftly being cleared out by UFC middleweight champion Anderson Silva.

When he goes 4-3 in UFC and is an afterthought, remember where you heard it first.

        Battle of the stumps!

  • Krog

No this guy has allot of talent, should be great test for Anderson.
Doubt he can pass a drug test for more then a year though.
    He is the 185 Alistar.

There’s no to know if he’s any good cuz he only has two notable fighters on his resume and there both losses granted there from a long time ago but still losses. Let him fight Stann Bisbing or even Munoz then will see.

Lombard is good, but he’s a little TOO cocky. Once he starts knocking out guys within’ the UFC, then he can say whatever the hell he wants!

Him against Paul Harris would be cool to see :)

Lombard vs Bisping. Lombard by vicious ass whoopin!

I don’t know, we’ve seen him gas in the past and Bisping can maintain a good pace for the entire fight.

Scenario: Vitor beats Wanderlei, then Vitor vs Hector. The winner gets Anderson if he gets through Chael. That’s what I wanna see. Even though he lost last time, still think that Vitor is the only middleweight around that has a chance of beating Anderson.

This guy hits like Mike Tyson did in his prime!! Any of you that think hes a chump are nuts!! Im not saying hes gonna challenge Anderson but he isnt a wimp by no means.

    • fsunoles09

there isnt a fighter in mma or boxing that hits like prime tyson bro.

  • philmckracken

Well bro… watch some of his fights and they are very similar to tyson only lasting until he gets inside and connects. They usually dont last long… like Tysons fights in his prime. Technically yeah.. prime tyson blah blah but his fight style the way he comes in and KO’s in very similar. Dont be so technically correct funyun hole!

5’9″ Lombard will go down with a flying knee when facing UFC competition. Palhares would be a good size match up, just to see how he does, two muscled trolls. Keep in mind, there’s going to be lot of testing, and that changes a fighter entirely.
