The first two opening round fights for Bellator’s upcoming women’s tournament have been announced as Megumi Fujii will face off against Angela Magana, while Lynn Alvarez squares off with Jessica Aguilar.

The bouts will take place as part of Bellator’s season 3 kick-off on Thursday, August 12 at the Seminole Hard Rock & Casino in Hollywood, Fla.

At a perfect 20-0, Megumi Fujii is widely considered one of the top pound-for-pound fighters in the women’s division. She made her Bellator debut in June dominating Sarah Schneider before getting a third round stoppage.

Trying to derail Fujii will be Angela Magana, making her Bellator Fighting Championships debut, and looking to rebound from a loss to Jessica Pene in her last fight. Training out of New Mexico, Magana has worked with Greg Jackson and his team in the past, and looks to excel in the upcoming women’s tournament.

The other first round fight will see 5-1 Lynn Alvarez debut for Bellator against American Top Team fighter Jessica Aguilar. Alvarez has won her last four fights in a row, while Aguilar is currently riding a three fight win streak of her own.

“I can think of no better place than the Hard Rock to kick off the action for our third season and our Women’s World Championship Tournament,” said Bellator CEO Bjorn Rebney. “The four female fighters on the card for this event are each among the top 10 in the world and I know that they are going to put on a great show for the great MMA fans in South Florida.”

The card will also feature opening bouts in the Bellator heavyweight tournament, as well as local fighters on the undercard.
