As Bellator’s Season 2 debut draws closer, the promotion has added more fighters to their upcoming middleweight tournament with Sean Loeffler and Jared Hess being the latest editions to the roster.
Jared Hess was a finalist in last year’s middleweight tournament in Bellator after winning his first two fights, he met Hector Lombard in the finale. After making it to the fourth round with Lombard, he suffered a cut over his eye that forced the doctors to stop the bout.
Now ready to take another shot at the Bellator tournament and possibly earn another chance at Lombard, Hess is hopeful to make a similar run as last year when he enters the 2010 version of the middleweight bracket.
“I’m looking forward to winning the tournament and getting a chance to face Hector again,” Hess said. “I think it would be a much different outcome this time. My standup has improved by leaps and bounds since then. Add that to my wrestling and I think I’d have a distinct edge this time.”
Also entering the Bellator middleweight division this year will be Sean Loeffler, who brings an impressive 18-4 record to the tournament, while also picking up wins in his last 5 fights in a row.
“I watch fights on TV and the guys are dancing around and throwing jabs. That’s not for me, that’s not MMA,” Loeffler said. “This is not ballet. It’s combat sports, so you won’t see me stalling and circling. If there’s one word to describe my fighting style, it’s violent. Win or lose, if you fight me, you’re not gonna leave looking pretty.”
The additions of Hess and Loeffler bring the current tally on the tournament to 5 participants along with Bryan Baker, Matt Major, and Eric Schambari. Bellator will kick off season 2 of their programming in April on Fox Sports Net, NBC and Telemundo.
