Bellator Fighting Championships will be heading to Canada for the first time ever on July 23 for Bellator 47 at Casino Rama in Rama, Ontario.

The event will feature Bellator featherweight champion Joe Warren defending his 145lb title against Season 4 tournament winner Patricio ‘Pitbull’ Freire in the main event.

MMAWeekly.com first reported the date for the bout between Warren and Freire, and now the fight has a location as well.

“Our fans have been asking us to come to Canada since our first season,” said Bellator Chairman & CEO Bjorn Rebney. “Casino Rama is an unbelievable venue and should make for a magical night of fights at Bellator 47.”

The promotion’s first trip to Canada will also feature tournament fights in the Season 5 featherweight tournament including Ronnie Mann, Marlon Sandro and Pat Curran.

Bellator hopes to capture the same energy that other promotions have found when going to Ontario. The province just legalized mixed martial arts in late 2010, and hosted the biggest MMA event in the sport’s history with UFC 129 in Toronto drawing over 55,000 fans.
