Bellator 44 Weigh-in Results; Anthony Morrison Misses Weight, Fight Off

Bellator 44 takes place at Caesars in Atlantic City, N.J., on Saturday. The official weigh-ins and pre-fight press conference took place Friday afternoon at Caesars.

The main event, non-title bout between Bellator middleweight champion Hector Lombard and UFC veteran Falaniko Vitale is on, and the lightweight tournament finalists, Michael Chandler and Patricky “Pitbull” Freire, both made weight.

A bantamweight feature bout has been scrapped, however, as Anthony Morrision tipped the scale at 146.5 pounds, 10.5 pounds over the allowance for a 135-pound bout. After failing to make weight, New Jersey only allows a fighter to lose another 2.5 percent of their body weight, so Morrison could not have made weight, even upon weighing in again. It was also too late to find a replacement, as fighters must be licensed at least 48 hours prior to their fight in New Jersey.

Bellator 44 will be broadcast live on Saturday 9 p.m. ET on MTV2.
