Bellator Fighting Championships hit a Season 4 peak in TV ratings with Saturday night’s Bellator 44 on MTV2. The promotion’s latest event drew an average of 325,000 viewers for its initial live telecast, and another 145,000 viewers in the replay.
The telecast drew the network’s best rating ever in the time period for Men 18-49, a key advertiser demographic. It was also the MTV2’s second largest average audience behind an airing of the Eminem movie “8 Mile” in April 2006.
Bellator’s TV ratings have been all over the board this season, but Saturday’s numbers have to make both promotion and network officials happy.
Bellator 44, which took place in Atlantic City, N.J., featured a non-title fight between Bellator middleweight champion Hector Lombard and UFC veteran Falaniko Vitale, as well as the Season 4 lightweight tournament final. Michael Chandler got the win in the 155-pound brackets, earning $100,000 and a shot at lightweight champion Eddie Alvarez.
