Briton Jimmy Wallhead faced many obstacles before finally making his promotional debut during Bellator’s Season 3. He defeated Ryan Thomas in that debut, likely earning his return trip for Season 4.
This season, Wallhead steps into the welterweight tournament that includes fighters such as UFC veteran Jay Hieron, former Bellator champion Lyman Good, and perennial Bellator contender Dan Hornbuckle.
Before any of those fighters are even a consideration for Wallhead, he must first get past for Olympic Judoka Rick Hawn in the quarterfinal round of the tournament at Bellator 35 on Saturday night in Lemoore, Calif. Wallhead is no stranger to Judo. He is a black belt in the discipline and is a three-time British champion.
He sat down with MMAWeekly.com U.K. correspondent Lee Whitehead recently to talk about his upcoming fight at Bellator 35 and the direction he’s headed.
